Post Looking for a few decent PSP games
I recently bought a PSP, and I was wondering if anyone who has owned a PSP for a significant amount of time could recommend some decent games.

I've drawn up two lists.

This is what I own...
- Patapon
- Echochome
- LocoRoco
- Patapon 2 (Pre-ordered)

This is what I've got down so far.

(Items in italics are maybes)

- LocoRoco 2
- Every Extend Extra
- Mercury
- Mercury Meltdown
- Gradius Collection
- N+
- Lumines*
- Lumines II*
- Me & My Katamari
- Metal Slug Anthology

*(One or the other, I hear they're pretty much the same, right? Anyone know otherwise?)

At the moment I'm looking for mainly puzzle and "unique" games, i.e. Echochrome (Something with a difference) and a few shooty-shooty games to balance it out. I'm already sold on Metal Slug Anthology, but I'm looking for an arena-shooter or a bullet hell game. Imagine Geometry Wars or Ikaruga, respectively.

Thanks for any help,
- The-Masses

Do you import games from Japan?

Anyways, I could suggest some games.

Dissidia Final Fantasy
Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII

And I'm pretty sure Sony Japan has Dodonpachi for PSX on Playstation store.

Not really. I picked up all of those at a store near where I work. I didn't realise until I got home that all of them were Japanese games.

Well, games made in Japan. Echochrome is good fun, though.

And I don't know about those ones. I've never really had any great love for the Final Fantasy games. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

It depends on what genre you like, for example, if you like Shooters you would want a SOCOM game, if you like puzzle games, you would want Lumines.

Killzone: Liberation?
At least I think that is the name.

It can be kinda hard at times, but is fun. Also, that wh40k game.

I would say vice city stories, but i doubt thats what your looking for and of course the amazingly obese loading times. What kind of psp you got? the 3000 or 2000? fat version?

Monster Hunter freedom 2.
Though Monster Hunter Unite comes out this year

My friends and I loved the series, and it gets pretty damn intense, and lol stuff happens. The game is great on single and multiplayer, but it tends to rape beginners at first.

Phantasy Star Portable
A "lite" version of Phantasy star universe, it doesn't let you run around a town, but the gameplay in the fields pretty much remains the same. Seems worth it. Comes out in March I think.

I've had a PSP and I've found that there are few decent games.

good ones:
- Loco Roco, although it gets boring pretty fast.
- Wipeout Pure/Pulse (pulse is newer, better graphics, pure is a better game): if you don't remember the old games, it's a racing one where you fly around in hover-jet-things with weapon pick ups. think Mariokart meets podracers.
- Other racing games, Psp seems to excel at these. The NFS series gets a mention.
- Killzone liberation (?) -single player is so hard Duke Nukem forever will be released by the time you finish it, but multiplayer is fun if you can convince someone to play.
- GTA series. Vice City Stories is newest and best, although Liberty City is a nicer City, Vice City is based off LA so it's a seriously ugly place.
- Rachet and Clank (Size Matters): is as good as the console versions. If you like it there you'll like it here.

In your OP you mentioned the gradius collection: don't, it's massively lacking in... everything.

Feel free to PM me about any other games you're looking at.

I've got LocoRoco, and I'm on the last stage of the first world. Of six worlds. But it's still fun.

Wipeout (either) is a game that I've been thinking about. You reckon Pure's better? OK. Then it'll be Pure.

Could you name any other racing games 'sides Wipeout and NFS? That's a hole that's not been filled yet.

OK. Now that two people have said "Go for K:L", think I will. I'll get it. I watched a gameplay video and a review, seems like a fun game.

So, would you recommend, overall, Vice City or Liberty City?

Heh. Saw that one in the shop (R & C). I'll probably get it.

Thanks for the suggestions. (Not just Exalion, everyone. If you could keep 'em coming I'd be really grateful.)

Cheers,
- The-Masses

Definitely recommend Guilty Gear X2 Accent Core Plus, and Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles.
And I could list Higurashi Daybreak, but I don't think you'd be interested. It's fun, but you just don't seem to be the type who plays doujin games ported to consoles.

Yeah, in case you're wondering, downgrading your PSP is not illegal.
It's just that Sony does not recommend it.
