Rock Band 2 & Guitar Hero: World Tour
They're both out now for all home consoles, which one might you prefer and why?
Rock Band 2 is the same as the original albeit a few changes:
*84 songs plus 20 free DLC songs ($5 for all the RB1 songs). *Drum Trainer mode for shitty drummers or those who can't pull off a decent fill. *Battle of the Bands mode for challenging other bands (score and note streak wise). *Improved drums and guitar. *More shop items and improved graphics.
Guitar Hero: World Tour:
*New 5-pad drum controller (one snare, two toms, and two cymbals). *Improved Guitar with a slider bar for solos and a thicker shape. *User created songs that are uploaded to GH Tunes and shared with everybody. *Band Career mode and Battle of the Bands (Your band vs. another). *Create-a-Rocker (similar to Tony Hawk's Create-a-Skater). *Fills are not pre-determined, but are available anytime there's a spare moment in the song
[By the way, both drum sets are compatible with the other's game (RB2 set with GH and etc.)]
I personally like Rock Band 2 more because of the interface, presentation, and drums.

Re: Rock Band 2 & Guitar Hero: World Tour
I bought GH:WT on Sunday, as both my sister and I love GH and finally get to play together, though our 2nd guitar is now the old one from GH2 with a broken whammy bar (but is otherwise functional). The one thing that really pissed me off is that the PS2 version of the band kit was delayed indefinitely, and nobody said anything about it, save for rumors I heard on the internet (you'll forgive me if I'm a bit leery of trusting that). So I got the guitar kit instead and am having a great time (the slider took me a bit to work out, but now that I'm used to the tapping motion as opposed to the usual "keep lower notes held down" motion, I think I'll do well next time I try). The drums and mike won't come out for weeks yet (PS2 version only, the bastards), so I'm looking to buy a USB mike so my sister can sing "Monsoon" by Tokio Hotel while I 100% the guitar part (again).
I'm loving what I've seen so far, especially the better boss battles (hooray, no more double notes on 9-note-per-second-HOPOs!). I can't wait for the drum kit to finally be released; it was my main source of anticipation. Rocking out on guitar and bass (open notes, oh my) is fun and all, especially now that I can finally play co-op, but it's nothing I haven't done before. So I guess I have a few weeks to milk out the rest of the game before I go for the drums. Unfortunately, me being at college during the week and home on weekends severely cuts my time with the game. Whatever.
My sister seriously loves Tokio Hotel; she got my mom to translate the original version of "Monsoon" from German to English and then looked for how the lyrics changed, then memorized the German lyrics and is planning to sing to them once we get the mike, on account of the game only recognizing the pitch. Personally, I recognized somewhere around 4 songs out of the whole set (I never listen to music save for playing GH), and I don't really care about the music styles, to a certain extent. My one complaint about the song choice is that, due to the microphone functionality, there are no more instrumental songs. Jessica, Impulse, Cliffs of Dover, etc. were my favorites of old. Alas, no more.

World Tour because of the better drum set, bigger song list, and (for me, anyway) easier to distinguish buttons and whatnot.

Re: Rock Band 2 & Guitar Hero: World Tour
For one, I've always been a Guitar Hero fan. I'm going to end up getting it over RB2. It's also (in my view) a much better game. Second, I despise the RB guitar. It's buttons are an epic failure. I play expert, and score much lower on RB than GH. Also, the strumming thing for the RB guitar is terrible. How are you supposed to know when you hit it hard enough? Exactly. The most appealing thing to me for GH:WT is the new guitar design... It looks kick ass and I can't wait to get it. Another thing that makes GH better is the greater amount of songs. They also have singles that you get download every now and then, as well as a song creator thing that allows you to create and share your own songs. Freakin' awesome.
Wiifag btw.

I didn't have it too bad. If I was connected to someone with a good connection, I could get through a song on hard almost effortlessly. Well... for the lag, that is.

My Wii is >10 feet from my wireless router. It lagged so bad it disconnected the other guy.

Re: Rock Band 2 & Guitar Hero: World Tour
In my day, our consoles didn't have internet, and we LIKED it!
Also, I have never played multiplayer with anyone else aside from my sister. And I don't mind. RB is more of a "have fun with friends" game and GH has had more focus on achievement and such. Two different styles, and they're both good.
Also, the WT guitar really is quite nice. It's bigger, it's heavier, it looks awesome, and the slider doesn't glitch if you know how to use it. It sure feels defective at first, though.

I have $1000+ in the bank. I'm not supposed to take any of it out. But I want to soooooo badly.
For GH:WT should I get the entire thing ($204.59) or just game + guitar?

Yes. I seem to like RB drums better that GH drums. And GH Guitar over RB's, due to the fact that RB guitars suck.
It's nice that you can mix and match. By the way, where's the option of getting both in the poll?
@OP: You could put that you could start with over 200 songs if you have the RB1 songs and DLC.

No. The GH drums are 100 times better.

No. The GH drums are 100 times better. I see your opinion and raise you an unsubstantiated fact! For some reason, I usually see a great deal of civility in GH vs. RB debates. I'm probably just looking in the wrong places.

Granted I don't have a system (I hope I get a wii/xbox 360 for christmas!!!), but I like RB, but the strum bar sucks terribly. I'm torn.
However, I DO like the new GH drums very much.

Re: Rock Band 2 & Guitar Hero: World Tour
Rock Band 2 + GH:WT Guitars is what I'm going for (maybe even the stand-alone GH:WT since the RB Drums are compatible). I like Rock Band 2's presentation and interface more though.
Oh, and all of you can take your fudge WiFi and your fudge Friend Codes and die in a hole somewhere.
(EDIT: Poll Fixed)
