Ok since I'm not that technical this is just going by Vista hardware scores (You should know what I mean if you have Vista).

So I put in my RAM card and then when I update the hardware scores on my PC the RAM score goes up and video card score decreases. :-(

I've never heard of RAM affecting video cards but you never know...

So if someone could clarify whether thats just Vista being gay or my video card has actually been affected.

Thanks!

I'm guessing that you're running 32-bit Vista and you added enough RAM to make part of your GPU's VRAM unaddressable.

How much of each do you have?

Correct I am running 32-Vista.
I have 2Gb of RAM.

Where can I find the amount of VRAM?

It was on the box of the card you purchased?

You answered your own question. You are using 32-bit Vista, which by its nature of being 32-bit prevents Vista from being capable of accessing every megabyte of RAM you have installed. Because Vista32 is incapable of accessing all of the memory you had installed, it defaults to the system RAM and ignores portions of your VRAM.

Long story short, upgrade to normal Vista or downgrade to normal XP. Using XP64 or Vista32 is pretty much the most ridiculous idea ever, as they are both severely gimped by hardware limitations.

Ok I have 256Mb of VRAM.

Guess I'll get rid of the RAM or upgrade to 64.

Thanks for all your help.

Also, buying a high amount of system RAM when you only have 256 MB of VRAM is retarded, because the graphics card will eat into your system RAM.

32 bit supports 3 gigs of RAM.

First person I've actually met that has ever referred to that...and yeah, 32 bit supports 3GB, and 64 bit supports something extremely high that a computer will never have that amount so don't even bother checking.

No, it was something much more than that. So I decided to look into it. It's 16 Exabytes. Using Googling calculator (put in 16 exabytes in gigabytes) it is 17'179'869'184. 17 billion.

64 bit Vista supports 128 gigabytes.

Oooh, you were talking just Windows Vista. From your last statement saying generally that 32 bit supports 3GBs I thought you were talking about generally for 64 bit as well.

So, uh does this mean that my 4GB RAM on my 32 vista isn't being used?

no it doesn't, sorry, that's just not physically possible even if you're running an integrated card because other devices use up the MMIO that adds up to the allowed 4GB
