Post Project Entropia
I recently got back into the Entropia Universe. My buddy who I used to pay with is still hooked on World of Warcraft (hate that freaking game) so I'm formally requesting the names of people here who play it. I just started out pretty much so all I have is a ballistics rifle and a small amount of funds.

Discuss the game here if you want to.

Honestly I'm extremely impressed at the way it works. A lot of it is user-created advertising, land ownership, business ownership, really productive stuff. If only you could invent stuff. I want a piece of the business world but am working my way up extremely slowly from the bottom, which is why I was hoping for a partner in crime.

So a topic for a game, with no link for those who don't know it! Classy.

That's exactly what I was going to say, if you're telling us about a game at least give us a link to the homepage. We shouldn't have to find it ourselves.

"Dramatization of X and Wild"

Arnold stood, on the great plains of the internet and couldn't help but feel exhausted. He had been searching for the city of Project Entropia, for hes family had told him there was fortune to be had there. That was weeks ago, and Arnold was losing faith. He had seen many an adventurer ride past, on their search-engine stallions. Most were going to a variety of places, others had been sold maps to 'shock' cities. He was running out of supplies, and was afraid he couldn't make it. But then, from over the hills, he gazed upon a metropolis the likes of which he hadn't seen, he had made it to Project Entropia!

Seriously, its NOT THAT FAR AWAY.

EDIT: I won't, Vista isn't supported.

It's expansive like everquest, it's more or less of an action RPG (have to aim in order to hit something), and a huge expanse of items and world advertising like Anarchy online. Oh, and it has a real cash economy, PED. 10 PED is 1 US dollar. You can withdraw money you make in the world to your own account, or visa versa to help your character in-game.

I was hoping someone people already played. It takes a good week to get in the full swing of things and that's just to get started.

After some reading I've figured out that this game is a giant 3-d chatroom more or less unless you invest real-life money into it to assist your character. Also they need to make Vista supported, it's getting more popular.

That made me laugh, even though you are proving the point that I am lazy I still found that hilarious.

However I am still not going to download Entropia because, as I have read in the last few posts it doesn't support Vista. Doesn't look all that awesome either.

Dang it!
It uses CryEngine 2 (Crysis uses this).
I have XP on this computer, but it just can't handle cryEngine 2.

....What the-

This game, uses the crysis engine, yes?

And yet it does not support Vista, which is on any computer that out of the box runs Crysis.

This doesn't make sense, because the core user base of this game would be out-of-the-box Myspace ladies who would most likely use a new computer to play this, which would have Vista.

Also, this game looks like the abortion of World of Warcraft, Runescape, and Myspace [It was a threesome.].

It doesn't use the cryengine yet.

The reason I like it is because all the shops are user-run, as well as the advertisements. The entire thing is based on how players create/advertise. What you see in one shop could be cheaper at another, it forces you to think and search around a bit. That, and when you have good enough armor and defensive weaponry, exploration is the next step. The place is just so damn huge, that's basically what I was hoping to get to.

Sound like a really really bad SecondLife clone.

It's not a bad clone at all. People play the game, seriously... Secondlife gets like 200 logins a month.

Wikipedia. On Second Life wrote:
At the end of March 2008, approximately 13 million accounts were registered, although a large percentage of these are inactive, some Residents have multiple accounts, and there are no reliable figures for actual long term consistent usage. In January 2008, residents spent 28,274,505 hours there, so on average about 38,000 residents were logged on at any particular moment.

I realize you were busy being TOTALLY informed there, but, really?

Come ON. SL probably has two orders of magnitude on this game in terms of population.

And believe me, I do not like Second Life. Just, really, you have to be that dumb?
