Post Creating a board game for American History
Hey guys, i'm doing this project in American History. And I'm pretty sure my partner has an IQ comparable to a wombat.

I've got the very basic gameplay down, it's pretty much a turn based rts kinda thing, like risk but without random chance.

You have a General on a 64x128 grid or whatever. You start with a set number of troops, who are all different troop classes. The goal is to destroy the other person's General. There are 6 teams; America, British, Russian, Germany, Italy, Japan. Each team has a different special. For example, Germany has the v1 rocket tanks.

The troops are going to be represented with a small model on the board, corresponding to a card in the players area. ex; some toy soldier on the battlefield is a representation of the infantry squad 1 in your area. Mines work by declaring you are placing a mine, then simply taking a mine card, writing the co-ordinates, and putting it on your side. If the enemy walks over it, declare they hit a mine, show them it, boom. Bunkers are garrisonable buildings that add a nice armor bonus.
Stats are going to be Attack, Armor, movement, Range.
Your oponent does not need to be able to see your cards.

The different troop classes and thier general stats are: Infantry squad (grunts) Sniper squad (long range, weak defense grunts) engineers (can build bunkers, lay mines/very weak grunts) Tank company (um... tanks....) Mortars (low movement, high range high atk very weak tanks) And the commander (strong, not overly so)

So, what I need from you guys are suggestions for specials for the teams, suggestions for balancing, and just general collaboration. However, try and keep the adding of variables to a very strict minimum, but buildings, troops, ect, are fine. Also, I need ideas for troop models.

I'll update this with more info /developments as it comes along.

The russians should have something where they can charge bunkers ect in numbers without many losses.

Also can we draw pictures?

Nazis/Germans can use 'Blitzkrieg', where tanks can move 2 spaces at a time and grunts can mount 'em.

I also suggest using these:
Germans:

Nice suggestions, but keep in mind, the average person in that class is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. So keep it to thier level, they are who I need to impress.
Although, when I learn enough coding I'll try and make this with all the things you have suggested.

So far I have:
Germans: V1 Rockets. (special tank with very long range, very short movement) ((no I am not changing this one))
Japanese: Nothing yet.
Italians: +1 to troop attack and armor
Americans: Nothing yet.
British: Nothing yet.
Russians: Extra troops.

And thanks for those graphics, they'll be very helpful.

Americans: Nukes, after _turns yau can get rid of _troops to nuke an area of 30x30

Japanese: Kamikaze, when troops die you role some dice and if its a 1 or a 6 the attacker gets killed/hurt

British: General bonus, troops gain 10% more speed/attack when withing 15 squares of a general.

Its WW2

Also, about the nuke, it's perfectly plausable because the board has an area of 8,192.

You should have a Poland team.

Their special is that they lose in the first round.

It'd be educational.

So, about all of these were way to complex for everyone.
And no building troops, if I forgot to mention that.
