My friend is building a computer. Now normally I'd be able to pretty much do everything for him, but he wants a capable gaming computer for ~$500.

Can DRL do this?

Does he want a computer capable of gaming, good at gaming, or Crysis like. It Matters.

Not Crysis-like. Just good enough to play upcoming games for about two years. He doesn't care much about graphics.

Ehh.

If he has a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, I suggest this build:

Total cost is ~700 dollars.

He can probably tone the processor and etc down some if necessary.

Cool. That's what I was waiting for. Now to fix it up and send him the good news.

How's the edited one?

Edit: I saw no reason for the other gig of RAM, also for now he doesn't need a top-of-the-line vid card.

If you removed the other set of RAM, you can probably get a cheaper mobo. That mobo has dual-channel, so if you got one without that, it might be even cheaper.

I was thinking that, but I'm in one of those positions where if I screw up he'll be pissed and whatnot. I'm gonna play it safe and say; recommendations?

Did I say that was a bad thing? No. Now chill or face the wrath of my scrotum.
