Alrighty, so, I just got me a new compy because the last one got a fatal virus... Didn't stand a chance. Now, no way am I going to let that happen again. (Especially since this thing has quite a bit a punch to it) I know that this will be debatable, but I want to know what you guys think is the best Security, Anti-Virus, or Spyware programs to buy or for free. Price isn't much of a problem, as long as it's a seriously powerful program. Appreciate the help! |

AVG is damned good for a free program, but for a commercial product I cannot give a higher acollade than to NOD32. Best. Anti-virus. Ever. |

AVG, Nod32, or Avast. Also, a good idea is to stop being dumb and downloading virus-infected files. |

I'm using Avast right now, and it's pretty good. Not that I can really tell, cause to my knowledge, I haven't gotten a serious virus or anything ever. |

I use the SheildDeluxe 2008, hasn't failed me yet and hardly eats up more than .5% of my CPU. |

Lavasoft Adware is good for small files, but my only major antivirus is Norton. |

I'm nice to people. Lavasoft and Grisoft. Learn and love these names. |

The above is by Tim, not I. I called FalconX an idiot and showed why Norton sucked. Tim actually took out a part that was helpful. Good job Tim. OP was Quote: You're an idiot. Norton is ♥♥♥♥ terrible. It WAS good up until a few years ago at which time they decided to go from a good specialized product to a ♥♥♥♥ awful do everything terribly for you product. Lavasoft and Grisoft. Learn and love these names. |

When I was in school, they refused to let anyone access the network without passing a few virus tests. Even AVG wasn't enough to log on with my laptop, so I had to bite the bullet and use the free Symantec AntiVirus offered by them. Only time I ever use it is when I needed to connect to the internet at school. Aside from that, I have gone years without any anti-virus software, and have yet to contract anything. The best anti-virus, aside from netAbstinence, is just being smart about what you do online. ... Failing that, just use AVG. In my opinion, the best commercial anti-virus is PC-Cillin, but my opinion is based on one I got many years ago, and I haven't used it since then. Cheapness prevails. |

How very ironic that your name is Virus. Anyway, I use AVG and I like it. It's fast, it takes up next to no memory and it doesn't constantly bug you about useless things such as javascript trying to run. I used to use McAfee, until it went from okay virus program to horrible, slow, annoying virus program that makes annoying sounds after its 5-hour scan. |

I'm using Norman (No, not Norton). I think it works just fine, but I don't know what to expect. I'm just watching what I'm downloading, and steer away from everything Chinese, and I'm relatively safe. Well, at least I hope so. (Oh yeah, it's not free, just mentioning it) |
