Re: Dwarf Fortress
It was deleted with all the rest, obviously T_T
But anyway, new version. Will not kill old saves. Bugfixes.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
THOR killed all the long posts I've made.. Grr, why didn't you admins make backups? At any rate, yeah, I didn't like this at first, then I figured out how to use adventure mode.. somewhat. Now I just go on a rampage and kill a bunch of people... There's always a crossbowman or an archer that takes me down... Arrows and bolts can one-shot you.. Kinda overpowered if you ask me...

Re: Dwarf Fortress
Also we need at least four people (including me) so we can do a fortress succesion game. IE: Each person does one in-game year and then passes it on.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
I'll take part, though I'll probably destroy it all by mistake.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
I would like a part, but I'm currently occupied by Musical Chairs and my own adventure game, so no. Aww carp.
(Oh yeah, I'm using word Carp for reason. All you DF-players know why.)

Re: Dwarf Fortress
Carp are the fell terrors that end many a brave dwarven life.
Anyway the mac build works fine for me. Anyone know if save files are compatible from PC to mac?

Re: Dwarf Fortress
It takes a while to get past a year (my guess about 12 hours realtime), so far I've only managed one and a half seasons before I gave up, had a somewhat good supply of food, but I don't know why, none of my seeds seemed to grow, also none of my dwarves reproduced (does that take 9 in game months?)
and that was all in one sitting, mining seemed to take ages, so I couldn't dig the huge river diversion and some of my dwarves were thirsty + I think I ran out of rum.
I will start a map then tell me if you like it.
edit: reminded by the carp talk; in adventure mode a sturgeon pike carp and a few other fish DROWNED whilst I was playing which I found rather odd.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
ok, finaly got aroud playing this for a while, this time I lasted until the summer.
noob question:
is it possible to set up walls? Imagine that you dug a larger entry then what you originally intended, and wanted to cover one of the sides. Is that possible?

Re: Dwarf Fortress
It is now! For a while you couldn't.
[b]uild-[C]onstructions-[w]all
Unfortunately you can only build one square at a time, which is tedious. Also, dwarves can't construct diagonally so generally you have to do corners first. You can build towers if you have the patience.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
Allright, I've just had my first seige ever. And I realized that I needed to prepare a ton more. I lost 4 archers, 2 wrestlers and now have 8 wounded(lungs) war dogs that will not die, or heal.
Although I did save the fortress.
Off to year 6!
