Re: A Galaxy at War the Wargame [4 Slots Left]
Ok, let's give this a try...
Class: Monitor (Medium) Name: The Flying Armadillo (unique) Ship Age: 2 years Captain: Captain John Freeman (:V) sub-commander of the SLA. Many people ask him why he flies such a dangerous ship. The answer is that it was just the first ship he was assigned on when he joined up, and is the one he knows best. Purpose: It's purpose is to act as a "Tank". It's inordinately heavy armour plating allows it to take a lot of hits from the enemy, and it is equipped with annoying weapons to draw fire from or incapacitate the enemy, rather than destroy them. By this strategy, more vulnerable ships can be destroyed as long as they try to stay low-priority.
Crew:
No idea, see end of post
Weapons (The weapons of the ship):
-Laser cannons
8 class 6 pirated heavy turbolaser anti-armour cannons 20 class 4 light turbolasers 34 class 1 point defence lasers
-Exotic Energy Weapons
14 Ion shield-penetrator/ship deactivation beams
-Projectile Weaponry
16 proton missile launchers
Shields The energy shields the ship uses for defence):
Class IV Energy shielding (50 generators) Class III Particles shielding (30 generators)
Armour (The solid armour used for defence):
Lanthite heavy armour plating
Engines (The engines used to propel the ship):
12 Ion stream engines 4 Ion force projection engines (added after John Freeman became sub-commander)
Reactors (The power source of the ship):
4 antimatter fusion systems (2 as backup) 1 stolen tyberium focusing crystal
My problem is, there are no guidelines for scale or examples of ships of each type. I have no idea if my ship is super strong, just right or totally useless.

Re: A Galaxy at War the Wargame [4 Slots Left]
Hmmmm....My ship design seems to have been hijacked. Which is fine, Except for ONE little thing. While the GLA stole many GSC technology's they have a VERY small number of MAC Cannons, Next to none. So if your ship has a MAC Cannon, Only say, Two other GLA ships can have them.
Updated player list:
Players: GSC commander: Mombassa Mk2 ---Sub-commander: FalconX ---Sub-commnader: leadpumper12 GLA commander: J23 ---Sub-commander: metal chao ---Sub-commander: astronaught Warpstorm commander: Warper ---Sub-commander: No_one Terakuran commander: REdFlameZero ---Sub-commander: Garland
All positions filled. No knew players can join unless a player leaves. BUT, I would advise any guys that want to join to PM me or post here. There is a chance that one or two players might have to leave for some reason. The first two people that PM me or post here a wanting a place get put on the fill-in list, Meaning they get the place of anyone that leaves.
Fill-Ins: ---(1) ---(2)

[yea w/e stuff is down here] Dude, kidding right? Your ship itself would need to be miles long to be able to hold the shields, not to mention very slow. The power you would need is simply unrealistic. And the ones you have now are no where NEAR enough, not to mention expensive. The power alone for the shields would nearly 2x the ship size. The drives you would need to run the ship would need to be super high, to accommodate the generators, shields, and drive systems weight. You would also need more weapons to even lightly defend a ship of this size, and in turn more generators and drive systems. The Crew to run all of this would be huge, as would mess halls, bunks, barracks, and ect. making the ship even heavier and larger, meaning more drives, power, and weapons. Finally, after all that, you still need way more shields to defend the size of the ship, which again brings all the totals up to impossible sizes. Eventually, even if you had the resources to make this, it would actually be too large to be stable, and collapse in on itself. It may even have its own gravity eventually, because your design is a never ending cycle of power, speed, defense, and personnel.

Re: A Galaxy at War the Wargame [4 Slots Left]
It works. 1)It's about 4km long and almost a km wide leaving a fair amount of room for stuff. 2)The generators aren't all that huge as they only have to cover a small area each. 3)40 Antimatter Fusion reactors is a HUGE amount of power, bordering on ridiculous. For instance, a basic GSC cruiser could run on 1 of them, maybe 2, when at full combat power. And if that wasn't enough, this thing also has every power upgrade it can take. Engine wise, this thing has more thrust then like 12 Imperial Star Destroyers. EDIT: As a note about the engines, I'm not saying that this thing is fast, I'm just saying it's not excruciatingly slow and lumbering.

That ship looks staggeringly expensive. Tell me, are you planning to build any more?

Re: A Galaxy at War the Wargame [4 Slots Left]
No way, that's the command ship and there's only ever going to be one. When we get to the point where we're building Super Dreadnoughts this won't seem quite so insane.

What happens when it goes down then? that'll be your hole life savings in a burning wreckage belting towards some god-forsaken rock.

I daresay he'll bury it away as a last line of defence, and only use it when he has a solid withdrawal strategy.
Also, I MAY be willing to be a subcommander if someone can write a tl;dr version of the rules.

That many shield generators is A) Unrealistic, B) ♥♥♥♥ too much, and C) still ♥♥♥♥ too much How the ♥♥♥♥ are we supposed to be able to break through that defense, and before you say "HURR U ARENT SPOSE TO :downs:" All these ships have to be destroyable in some way and shouldn't take fleets to take down an individual ship. Also, I added 2 SHIVA nukes to my ship.

Re: A Galaxy at War the Wargame [4 Slots Left]
HEY GUYS PEOPLE CAN'T LIVE IN SPACE THIS IS UNREALISTIC.
Hang on, what? How do you know what the Energy output to shield ratio would be? It's just the GMs opinion that counts.
