Well, I was listening to the radio and I heard them say that it wasn't confirmed to be in Florida, which is where currently am.
I overheard that someones child was sick and it was possibely the Swine flu, And that they're floor was "squishy full of vomit".
Yet he went to school for about 3 days, kid as probably sneezed and coughed in every corner of that place.

The CDC has announced that containment is nolonger possible

Yesterday morning there where 20 cases of swine flu in the united states

There are now 60 cases in the united states confirmed.

The CDC now has an OFFICIAL swine flu map, Hosted on the BBC, and paid for by the CDC.

It has a time-laps of day by day for how many are infected....

In the US:

April 21: 2 people
24th : 9 people
25th : 9
26th : 20
27th : 20 confirmed
28th : 62 Confirmed

There are even more effected countries now, WHO is holding a meeting tommorrow morning, the CDC is handing out masks and anti-viral drugs, as at least 2 are known to work on swine flu...

I did, and I understand where you're going with that. HOWEVER, old people and children have weaker immune systems and are therefore more susceptible to every disease that can be defeated or slowed by the immune system than the average 30-year old person. Thus, if we get a worldwide epidemic of the stuff (which this looks like it might be leading up to) old people and children will be statistically more likely to get infected, and for the same reason, killed.

Actually some viruses (it's thought swine flue among them) can be more harmful to those with stronger immune systems. I forgot exactly how it works, but basically the virus will convince the body that it is an enormous above-average threat. Like REALLY threatening. So threatening that the body puts the immune system at such a high and potent alert that it starts destroying your own cells, including those of your vital organs. Those with below average immune systems can be completely safe from this phenomenon, and may even have a higher resistance to major symptoms. Those with above average immune systems will respond yet stronger to the enhanced threat, causing extra bodily harm.

I only just learned about this the other day - I really wouldn't expect you or anyone else to know about this. Just saying because I think it's kinda interesting =)

i am scared that illegal immigrants from mexico with the disease (knowing or not knowing they have it) will come in and spread it even more. i have a strange feeling that the swine flu is a version of chemical warfare released by the Taliban or Al-Qaeda or other terrorist groups.

That is the most RETARDED thing I have EVER heard in my LIFE! This is worse than when a kid in my english class was saying that the Soviet union was responsible for 9/11!
forgot my endquote lol[/quote]

eh, i should have added [sarcasm][/sarcasm]. in retrospec, i could have rephrased rephrased the chemical warfare sentence better. wait...the soviets didnt cause 9/11?!?!11? omg. i shot a russian at my school cause i thought he caused 9/11. woops...

and my fear of illegal immigrant pig flu spreaders makes sense. the chemical warfare part was a joke >_<

It's not pandemic level. It's not too deadly, we just need to get a vaccine. It's gotten me playing a lot of Pandemic 2 though

1918 spanish flu pandemic also caused cytokine storms (ahawhawhaw wikipedia) which is what made it so lethal. But still, they're able to treat this swine flu using tamiflu so I'm still not bothered.
