Re: Art Dump
Wow, thanks guys, the kind words mean a lot to me. @Shook, thanks for the feedback and critique. The right forearm does seem a bit strange, I was trying to emphasize the muscles in that area. @Notsoscary It's hard to say how I improve and continue to draw, I usually just say "practice practice practice", I think this quote has a lot of truth to it: I rarely use a pencil, pen is more to my liking, gives good solid lines, of course you can't erase so you have to draw very light under-sketches. My recent stuff I've been posting is digital with a tablet, using Mypaint with downloaded brushes, I think it imitates a pen drawing nicely. As for time, the last 2 were a couple hours each, hatching takes up most of the time. Just finished this, inspired by Mount & Blade ~3 hours

Re: Art Dump
Oh Non, how i know that feel! My brain still refuses to believe the short amount of time that some artists spend to make ridiculously good art, but i'm going to be cheeky and say that 3 hours actually isn't unbelievable (with all due respect to madmax, i couldn't draw anything that good even if i tried for a whole day). Remember, drawings are 2D, while your awesome wooden crafts are 3D, and thus take much more work to get to a similar level of quality. Also, people have inherently different working paces, and it's not a bad thing to not be blazing fast. Also also, the quote madmax posted is both awesome and relevant. I'm possibly the slowest learner of art ever, i began posting work on deviantArt 4 years ago, and was probably trying to sprite a year before that. The most significant change in my arty stuff was back when i stopped pillow shading, approximately 9 months after my first sprite ever (which was godawful). Since that point, there hasn't been any significant leaps, mostly just SLOW progress (which i suppose is good?). But you know what? I'm totally cool with that, and i don't even know where i'm going with this. I think what i'm trying to say is "keep at it, you'll get EVEN BETTER". That thing that many artists say about it not being about talent but hard work? They're totally right. If you can hold your attention to a drawing for just ONE hour, you can make huge progress in no time flat. Quick sketches are actually better for learning than grand artworks, at least i think so. also tracing isn't notably faster than drawingalso i couldn't sleep last night so i drew an angry fish This is more a style i really enjoy drawing in, as opposed to the semi-realistic dragon thing i drew earlier. I did enjoy that, of course, but this also amused me. Plus, it only took 20 minutes, so that's nice.

Re: Art Dump
Doin' KAG arts, for the background scenery. A Dune with a temple entrance, towers and a statue face. A WIP castle/fortified town for the closest layer. Any tips 'n' CC would be nice since this is the first time I'm undertaking a sprite this large, 1024 x 512px full size.

Re: Art Dump
Perhaps be a bit harder on the contrast.
Everything looks too 'creamy' at the moment, reminds me of the French Vanilla coffee I order every once in a while. Very nice otherwise.

Re: Art Dump
I dunno, it might be on purpose, as to not draw much attention to the background.

Re: Art Dump
The low contrast is kinda intentional, as P3lb0x said, but if it looks silly ingame I'll up the contrast, thanks. This is indeed for the Crusader pack and I'll be getting the full game tomorrow or the day after.

Re: Art Dump
dude that is a super pretty hoerrs Also the shading is awesome, i can't quite fathom how you make it so subtle while still conveying so much depth! Also, great job making it look furry without completely plastering it with lines, i love that effect (as in what you've done). I mean ♥♥♥♥, your art style basically has everything i like, barring gigantic bushy eyebrows! also here's an unfinished landscape thingy i drew IN CLASS do you know how much of a step forward it is for me to draw something in class? a moderately large one (also weeeeeeeee attempted cross-hatching)
