They're eyes from this guy's art.
Looks a lot better as a set on a white background, but eh.
They're just so colorful and beautiful.

For a second I thought her eye had exploded outward or something, so glad it's just a flower.

Great, now all I see when I look at that is a gaping eye socket.

that might not've been drawn, there's a chance it's linocut or something, which would make it a print.
Still be hard as hell though.

If you're asking how it's done, etching/engraving is the process of printmaking by cutting out relief lines in a piece of wood or metal which will hold ink and be pressed onto paper. Any magazines, newspapers, or catalogues of the 19th/20th centuries usually have a lot of etching artwork. It's hard not to admire the linework and hatching of master printmakers. You can buy a scratchboard at an art store and try it out for yourself.
