Really the only fix now is to call, email, or somehow contact your representatives (if you're in the US) and add your voice to the multitude trying to get them to see reason. Even then, we just have to hope they see the light in our numbers (like they're supposed to, listen to the majority) and do the right thing.

And what's the point of painting a negative light on an effort to stop this? Bashing someone for doing something is the worst and most unconstructive kind of apathy and this is coming from someone who is, on the whole quite partial to apathy and its less conceptual cousin laziness.
Also if you don't have an opinion on this whole situation you probably should since odds are it'll affect you too, albeit less heavily than many, but that's really up to you. Yeah I'm siding with the government on this one. SOPA is only a problem because it's designed to ABUSE copyright.
This MegaUpload thing is a clear cut example of how to go about a copyright violation. Gather evidence, make sure you've got a solid case, and THEN you can lock the ♥♥♥♥ down on them.

Except MegaUpload was known for being responsive to DMCA takedowns, and it's based in Hong Kong. If nothing else, I'd say the US government is overstepping its boundaries a wee bit. Still, I suppose it's better than blanket attacks on everyone like SOPA/PIPA.
