Spore is being released pretty much the same day across the board? At least that was the intention. Unless you happen to have a GAME preorder that they then screw up so you have to order it from Play.com, who will hopefully have it on my lap by tomorrow...



But it's not about the 'beating' though, is it? If short is its only flaw I'm happy, as that's probably the total number of hours I've got for playing computer games til January anyway

My pre-order arrived, a day earlier than than I expected it.

its 12:01 in the UK now so its out, unfortunately i must wait till 8.am to nip down the shop and grab a copy.

My opinions so far, after playing for 8 hours non-stop.

Tide Pool Phase - Simple, but fun.

Creature Phase - Very similar to an MMO, including the grinding.

Tibal Phase - Shitty pseudo RTS

City Phase - Fun, but lacks depth

Space Phase - Basically the entire game, interface reminds of Mass Effect somewhat, but VERY complicated. And fun!

Okay, someone needs to give me a medal or something if i make it till sunday so i don't torrent....

See, the main problem I have with secuROM is the handful of cases in which it's totally destroyed people's hard and disk drives. Seeing as it's run no matter what, it always is using memory. It makes files that can't be deleted and are nearly impossible to uninstall.
Basically what it does is checks if the game is running and blocks you from using disk-writing functions and running certain programs. Unfortunately, if it decides that the game is running when it isn't, say goodbye to your DVD player. And, if you ever actually uninstall the game it came with, there's now a huge backdoor access for trojans and viruses that can be exploited by pretending to be the game.
However, now that I hear of anti-secuROM I guess I'll look in to that. Personally I just don't want my computer to be destroyed after having just upgraded and basically remodeled it.

I'm quite disappointed that people are saying the stages are short, I thought this game would take days and days to get to the space age.

its fun when your playing but after you just realise how little depth there is in the game compared to what was promised.
the space age is broken aswell, i mean jesus i go to do something and my planet gets attacked, i kill them then i go try do it again and guess what i get attacked again. ♥♥♥♥.

Hell yes! Though I've been watching a guy play it on a LIVE Webcam. Australia got it early... But I can't wait!

The space age outfitting is just for show and doesn't effect anything but it's just so cool.

It arrived on thursday morning, haven't stopped playing it since, it's great fun. Especially exploring and terraforming planets.
