Well, you can opt out atleast. But that's going to be the most awkward phone call in the history of phone calls.
EDIT: I went for a stroll down internet lane, and I got a blast of nostalgia.
If there is any game I want made, I'd have to pick Earth 2170. I'd give a kidney for that game.
There was nothing I enjoyed more then putting those ED bastards in their place with my disembodied brains. Gotta love the UCS. You enlist, your brain gets removed and slapped in a mech. The ED, on the other hand. They have to have tank crews.

Really? Last I checked, the UCS were a bunch of pansy-ass slobs who were too lazy to manage themselves and too scared to fight face to face, so they made an army of AIs to run everything and gave the AIs a horde of remotely-controlled warbots to crush the UCS' enemies.

Re: The Lounge
I don't know, Elder Scrolls online would kinda break some things of Elder Scrolls.
Like, some NPCs would have to respawn or be un-killable, and that's not very Elder Scrollish.

But there are respawning/unkillable NPCs in most Elder Scrolls games, certainly in Skyrim and Oblivion. There are hundreds of things that mean this won't be a very Elder Scrolls-y game (Third Person Only, Hotbar Skills, Mobs That Have Little Connection To Existing Elder Scrolls Monsters, It's Clearly Just An Attempt At A WoW Cash-In) but that isn't one of them
