As it is, it's very noisy, work on making subtle stuff pretty before jumping the gun to FLASHY GREEN FIRE BLADE EXPLOSION. I've always thought that fractals were better when used in context rather than on their own.

@contrary the background is way too bright/high contrast, and distracts from the sprite. the sprite itself looks ok to me but i'm no expert on anatomy, though as you said the background is shaded much differently from the sprite.
