One of the counterarguments is that she'd be making weird gasping noises and trying to breathe. And floppy gaspy noises tend to turn me off while ♥♥♥♥.

I had thought the same thing, that's why I'd pick fish-bottom.

Time control. It's the obvious choice. You could do virtually anything with time control.

I would want the ability to make people fish top mermaids.

But really yeah, probably time manipulation like Tomaster said. Even just like a 5 second "oops take it back" power would be sweet.

Edit: Maybe teleportation a la Jumper or mind reading.

Telekinesis. And not any of that bull♥♥♥♥ lift things and ♥♥♥♥ stuff, I mean full blown control of molecules. Rip your couch apart, make a stack of gold bars.
Although after having a surprisingly vivid dream the other night where I lifted my neighbor's dog over the fence via telekinesis, the less awesome kind would still kick ass as well, because lifting ♥♥♥♥ with my mind was fun as hell. Threw a tissue box at someone's head if I remember correctly.

Also, fish bottom. There's plenty of ways a woman can still service a man with just her upper half and I'd prefer better company than a ♥♥♥♥ fish gasping for breath. To illustrate my point, which would you rather sit next to afterwards?

For generic powers I'd have to go with either time control or telekinesis, because those are hands-down the most powerful superpowers there are (or...aren't, because nobody has those powers). But I remember this one daydreaming scenario I made, where for some reason I had this pact with some demonic entity and at first I'd ended up with super-regeneration and resilience. Afterwards, I got super strength, then speed and all that other comparatively-boring stuff.

Then, I ended up killing someone and got, like, these boss tentacle protrusions. So I could just have tentacles erupt out of my back and arms 'n' all that. I also got some hellish powers that let me summon abominations from portals and I could travel through darkness and all this other bad-ass stuff. I basically ended up some ♥♥♥♥ monstrous demigod of all that was terrifying. While not nearly as powerful as either of the aforementioned superpowers, it'd be really fun to be some superhuman godlike entity of fear. I could, like, have my own cult 'n' ♥♥♥♥.
