Ancient. The fact that I am still alive today is a staggering feat indeed. Edit: Warm, TheKebbit, very warm.

A few of the more upstart archaeologists have declared 6,000 years. But respected veterans of the field offer no comment, and advise against further research.

Gotcha! wrote: @Shook: But the people there are very happy, among the happiest in the world, or so I hear? So they say. They might even be right, though from what I know it's more "i am content with life right now" than beaming joy. People don't smile all that much in the city, and older people still give me funny looks, because I'm apparently a really scary young man who wants to beat them down with a fossilized cephalopod (which totally isn't the case, I don't even have a fossilized cephalopod). That said, not many overt frowns either, so I guess it's all dandy. c: Also, 19 years of age (oh god I'm technically an adult already?!), studying geology and overtly beaming with joy. VonKain wasn't far off with the early 20's guess. :U

Re: Any non-American/english people on this forum?
It's not actually natural to be happy and smile all the time. The idea that happiness is meant to be a constant is a very recent invention! The greeks certainly didn't believe it, nor did anyone in the feudal ages. It is simply not how your brain works, even if it were able and willing to supply the correct chemicals to your brain constantly then you would fairly quickly become acclimatised to it and will assume you aren't happy.
And paradoxically, people worrying about how they aren't constantly happy actively works to mean that they won't be happy. It is a goal that is impossible to achieve and thus they are always disappointed and assume they are doing something wrong. "Being content with life right now" is pretty much the best state you can aspire to.

Re: Any non-American/english people on this forum?
Well yeah, life without ups and downs can get dreadfully dull, that's for sure. However, since I was plagued by bullying in elementary school, I believe I'm well within my natural rights to be elated for at least a couple more years. :U (a grand down to go with the huge up that is uni, gymnasium was great but dayum bro I haven't been this happy with life since fuggin kindergarten) Anyhoo, Denmark is a flat country in every way. Worst thing nature can throw at you is what, a little thunderstorm? A fox? A really mean hill? A few degrees of frost? In other words, not much. But as long as you don't expect any extremes at all, it's fine. Norway and Sweden has much more to offer in that department, but they have silly laws about alcohol. (either that or Denmark is really lenient, because the full power of beer unlocks already at the age of 16, except on tap which requires 18 years)

Flat? We have flat. But at least half your country isn't below sea level. Silly dutchies, living like snorkels.
