 Re: Art Dump
Fairly meh, but just for practice. Quite happy with the stone squares, less so with the grass tile. Will have to be revisited.

 Re: Art Dump
Yeah the stone is pretty nice but the grass just looks far too bright
Acid isn't actually bright green and glowing in real life but if it was then your grass would look like it

 Re: Art Dump
I've gotten pretty mixed messages about it But the main crit is that the colours are a little oversaturated and the grass is too bright, whereas the praise has been towards the detail, so I'll tweak the colours and keep the detail intact, and see where we go from there. Addendum: A bit of an edit, which has already turned up in all the posts around the net thanks to deviantart.

Another one of these, now with better grass and a HUD.

 Re: Art Dump
Well, I did a small sheet as a practice for something on Pixelation. The colours are off (too dark on my monitor, probably too saturated on others), but I've got to get faster at that as well so it's relevant. Probably getting closer to three with upload times and a cup of tea. Time for bed, this was a relaxing end to the week. That's looking nice, lizard. Try some faint background tiles for inside the cave? Could be too noisy but could also give it some depth, it's very readable but kind of stark at the moment.

 Re: Art Dump
Yeah I had that in another mockup, no idea why I didn't add it. Looks a lot better, though the BG should probably be a darker color... edit: Okay pretty happy with it now.

Colours might not be perfect yet Geti but the grass is much better than it was

 Re: Art Dump
I've still got some cleaning to do but it's coming along. Not sure where to go for the "relics", I'm going to have to ask for clarification on that one, or should I do a character instead? Choices to make. 5 hours of pixelling in, a day and a half in on the calendar. This exercise is fun. 8 16x16 tiles and one 128x64 set piece.

 Re: Art Dump
Sometimes I see an awesome pixel picture that looks like it has enough character in itself to make a game out of. That is one of those pictures, Geti. Love it.
And I think you should make a character, like a hooded refugee/outcast with a cigarette, leaning on his shovel. That's my opinion.

 Re: Art Dump
I'd like to make a game out of it, but don't have the time, I'm going to try to make another game from scratch by next monday.
That style (16x16 earthy colours) is one way I'd love to tackle EXILE, if I can't afford to hand paint everything.

 Re: Art Dump
6 hours work total, 2.5 calendar days total. Now I've just got to do all the assets and code for a game to go onto a platform I've never developed for. No fear. Madmax there's kind of too much sketch and not enough pixel art in your pixel art. It still looks fine but it could be so much nicer.

 Re: Art Dump
It's not supposed to be pixel art, just good old shameless sketchiness. Thanks though.

 Re: Art Dump
Well then your colors don't blend nicely enough. I'd syggest you pick a media, digital art in general or pixelart, because unpolished pixelart looks p bad.
