Nah, chainsaws are heavy, and they'd at best throw your aim off. At worst, they'd break your weapon, or shake some bits loose.

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
For the robots; are we talking fully automated killing machines or remotely controlled ones? The latter already exist and some are used by military forces. (Inc. pics but all are JPEG, so no worries.) First one is the UAV Predator Drone, a remote-controlled unmanned aircraft which is usually used for tactical strikes or even dogfighting. It can be armed with 2 Hellfire air to surface missiles or 2 AIM-92 Stinger air-to-air. Its big brothers, the Warrior and Reaper, have more extensive armament; the Warrior can hold 4 Hellfires or 8 Stingers, and the Reaper, mainly a ground support UAV, can hold up to 14 Hellfires or 4 Hellfires and 2 GBU gravity bombs, which can also be fitted with JDAM systems. Plus, modifications for compatibility with Stingers are underway. The second is a SWORDS robot. Remotely controlled, it works like a little tank and can serve a variety of purposes, from search-and-rescue in cramped places to bomb defusing to outright combat. It can be equipped with a variety of weapons including an M16 assault rifle, combat shotgun, grenade launcher, rocket launchers, and light machine guns. The third is an R-Gator, not as impressive as it would (note the "would", I don't think it's in active service) primarily be used for hauling supplies or scouting a perimeter but it can also stand as a sentry using a laser detection system which alerts friendlies to the presence of hostiles or gunfire.

I would stick with the tried and true M1A1 Carbine, a machete, and a 12 gauge. But If we want to go to the realms of absurdity, I would pick this: http://www.imfdb.org/images/e/ee/RE5Hydra.jpgand this: http://outlawmafia.com/images/handcannon.png

I honestly think the hydra shotgun could be easily possible. I don't know much about guns, but it can't be too hard to rig up a 3rd barrel, especially on a sawn-off like that. So it's not too ridiculous.

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
implausible as in it uses 3 shells per shot, requiring a LOT of ammo, and the recoil would probably hurt a lot.

Only if you could make it actually feasible to use rather than bigger than the gun its attached to. That dude could barely kill the pumpkins with it.
