Robots are pretty quick accurate etc. I'm sure with proper sensors a robot could block a bullet with a sword. So you're saying that a robot could, at the current, detect a bullet, determine the angle and speed, figure out at what angle the katana needs to be held at, and use motors in about a tenth of a second? I think it could do the processing bits, but not the physical stuff. It's a robot, give it 8 katanas.

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
If you have a robot capable of wielding 8 katana then just give it big blades welded into the arms. And guns.

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
a system is capable of being designed that could, in theory, swing a metal object down into the flight path of a bullet in mid-flight
if you preworked the timing and could eliminate all the variables
does this qualify as a robot, and is it useful for combat?
yeah
I'll let you brain surgeons riddle me that one

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
Actually, screw that. The robot doesn't need to slice bullets in half: it's fighting zombies. Just give it a bunch of guns and maybe one or two bayonets. If it runs out of bayonets just get it to punch the crap out of the zombies.

I think that 411 was referring to the fact that a bayonet could get stuck on some not-so-rotten zombie, or something like that. Or maybe it has some kind of gun that fires bayonets yeah the zombies would have a hard time dodging that unless they had some kind of super-cool katana octopus power oh yeah it'd be awesome

Yeah, I was referring to them getting stuck in zombies or otherwise losing them. Though they'd have a significantly shorter life than the joints if they're in common use.

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
What's the next suggestion going to be? Strike Freedom Gundam? The Death Star? EDIT: Nah, suggest what you like, it's a discussion. Anyway, is robocop a cyborg or a robot? He seems to have a human and therefore zombifiable lower jaw, but I think I remember some stuff about him being a robot with a human brain or something; though then the brain could be zombified... though he has some pretty zombie proof metal over that head of his.
