Post Re: Dwarf Fortress
I don't use graphics packs because all of the tutorials on the wiki are in ASCII.

That and I've yet to see a graphical tileset I like the look of.

I don't use graphics packs because most are optimized for people with ridiculously big screens.

The only reason not to use them is because you think they look retro and like it or you consider yourself more elite.

I like the look but not because it's retro. The graphics packs look retarded to me. Also don't talk about things you don't know about dwarves turn colors when they have a certain job.

Graphics (in "raw") only change the way creatures and civilisations look, so everything else will look the same. Once again I see no reason to not change the graphics, I understand if you want to keep the creatures as ascii, but I think changing the civilisations is very helpful.

You're hilarious. You see, this is what the graphics pack does to people. It makes them not know what the game is like, at all. Normal people would know that the mayor is a special purple color. Stone related persons are white. Fishery related people are dark blue.

Hilarious.

And by the way, the last update to Skiv's was on Jun 19. It's Jun 25. AAAAAAAARGH

As of tomorrow someone else can start.

Octyl and Midna seem to be the next in line.

I know that daman! what I was saying, if you read the above post (above yours), was that there are a few different "types" of jobs, 12 to be presise. Take, for example, a Farmer... It would be a sick/green colour, BUT it could either be a Brewer, Butcher, Cheese maker, Cook, Dyer, Grower, Herbalist, Lye maker, Milker, Miller, Potash maker, Soaper, Tanner, Thresher or Wood burner. Non-distinguishable, what is he? is he my brewer or is he my grower? Graphics sort that out.

EDIT: I am not angry at you I am just elaborating on what I said and meant.

Post Re: Dwarf Fortress
Well whatever, some people like it, some don't. I don't use them because it makes it easier to understand, I use them becasue I prefer the art (mainly because I'm making a graphics pack myself, it would be bad if I didn't like it/use it myself).

so here is a character set I edited:

1st Granite, 1054.

Okay, what in the name of Armok happened. I thought I retired.

Now I have to put up with managing this fortress after I was
finally able to stop thinking about how it actually might work?
This should be interesting, apparently we have marksdwarves, I
don't actually know how we made the crossbows, or the bolts, I'll
look into the produciton of these items later, right now I am
going to try and make sense of the rediculous construction that
was started last year.

10th Granite, 1054.

I normally don't like to write so often, but I think that these
odd human merchants warrant it.

THEY ARE NOT LEAVING, A FEW ARE IDLING AT THE EDGE OF OUT TERRITORY
WAITING FOR THEIR FRIENDS THAT REFUSE TO GET OUT OF THE TRADE DEPOT.

Image

I checked in on the merchants at the depot and found that they were
"stunned." I have no idea if he is stunned from getting beat ofer
the head by a goblin or if it has something to do with our marvelous
architecture, but he's really got to snap out of it. He's going to
make himself and the others die of thirst or hunger at this rate.

14th Granite, 1054.

THe elves arrive, apparently the aggression my heirs showed did not
irk them much.

22nd Granite, 1054.

Siezed a bunch of stuff from the elves, two cloth bins, some wood,
and five berries, to be exact. The humans are still loitering.

6th Slate, 1054.

Immigrants. 23 of them. Just finished with the initial sorting.
Lots of new recruits, and a dungeon master.

With 104 dwarves living in the fortress now, I haven't a clue if
there are enough beds.

And now checking through what sorts of dwarves we have, and their
rooming...

What the heck is going on here? Whoever managed this fort decided
that recruits need bedrooms, tanners are actually important, not
to mention milkers. If it comes down to it I could probably find
another dozen useless dwarves to recruit. As it is, I will leave
them to haul stuff around.

16th Slate, 1054.

While mining out the Dungeon Master's rooms, we ran into a ruby
cluster, I had the miners hang back until this legendary "Daman"
character came around to deal with it.

PS: The ♥♥♥♥ daman? Why is it placed like this?
