Re: An excercise in diplomacy [go to page 2]
Okay, let me clarify the obscurity level. It is NOT so obscure that you have no hope of ever finding it. It IS on the internet, full text, and easy to read. It is located in both an image, and a text dump below it. You could find it eventually. Alenth is the one who is closest to the right "track". As I realize that this is basically impossible, here's the first sentence: Quote: I hear you're planning on changing your marital status, reverend.

Can be found at: http://www.schlockmercenary.com/d/20020405.htmlQuote: Massey: I hear you're planning on changing your marital status, reverend. I'd love to offer my services in the matter. Mostly it amounts to paperwork, but I can ensure that your marrage is recognized throughout the various jurisdictions of human space, granting you all the tax credits, immunities, and other legal benefits associated with the institution.
Reverend: Actually, Massey, it's more important to us that we're married in the eyes of god. We'll be keeping it simple, and we'd rather not sully the occasion by bringing a bunch of lawyers into it.
Reverend: Err... I don't think that came out right.
Bunni: Can I help you out of your shoes so that you can get the foot the rest of the way in, dearest? Schlock Mercenary Archives: Friday, April 5, 2002's comic It's the dialogue taken from that "online comic space opera" by Howard Taylor. Without displaying who is saying what: Quote: I hear you're planning on changing your marital status, reverend. I'd love to offer my services in the matter. Hmm.
See, I can't tell whether you googled it or found it directly.
You're correct, but I'm not sure whether you qualify, especially since I gave a major hint out with the first sentence.

Google works if you crop out a couple words.

I do not recall anything about not using Google. Not to mention, you gave us that hint saying that the piece of text would be very near impossible to decipher if not for a clue. How do I not use a hint if you give it to me?

Re: An excercise in diplomacy [go to page 2]
I gave the hint because without it, it would be utterly impossible to solve.
Alenth was doing the most work, and his best translation was no where near the actual sentence.
The hint was not given with the intention of allowing you to google it. The hint was given so that you could use it as a Rosetta stone and attempt to translate the rest of the document.
Fine, look, do you actually need a CC key, or were you just posting to have fun with the task?

I already have one, but it would be nice to have another for my brother, so he wouldn't keep trying to kick me off the computer. Oh well, I really don't absolutely NEED it. If you want to give it to another worthier person for a better contest or to Alenth who got closest to this one, I wouldn't be deeply hurt.
