Did any of you read the terminals? ***TERMINAL SPOILERS*** I got the impression that the Forerunners were merged with their computer thingys, and then were revived after the halo network fired. So, that planet at the end could be the Forerunner planet...
Oh, and the Forerunners had an alien species that existed before them, Precursors (more imagination, damnit!). It says so in the manual.

In the lovers conversation, can't remember which terminal, the other (librarian?) one was on a beautiful planet they decided to preserve, and "index" all the inhabitants. So, I think that humans aren't forerunners (thought it would be cool), but their "children" of sorts.
EDIT: Oh, and that RvB thing was hilarious.

Just because the ark is destroyed, does not mean the halos are destroyed, or that the flood are all destroyed.
In other words, the humans still have alot to deal with if they want to destroy all of the flood.
