Yes I can lift a ♥♥♥♥ ton of weight for miles(I had the training to do so and the work as well)I'm far in the country so I could take a woodland trail if I had too and I will have some friends to help out too(4 or 5).

Re: Zombie Apocalypse Survival Plans
My friends would carry some too we would each carry at least 25 or more pounds of supplies light enough to walk fast and get some ground covered. Also my friends are highly trusted and mentally and physically tough as well, and while we travel through the forest the other 6,000 people or more will be rioting to the grocers so we would be safe from thieves.
Most likely plan B^.
Plan A's to barricade my two story house and break the stairs placing a latter to climb up by,and I have plenty of supplies like I said and materials and weapons +ammo to use.We would be safe for at least a month then we would fix up my van(if it was damaged by zeds) and take the nomad life since there would be hardly or no traffic to block us(maybe some cars will block us during our travels which is why I would weld a bulldozer like wedge to the front of the van).

Re: Zombie Apocalypse Survival Plans
Like Geti said, we need some circumstantial details before specific detailed plans can really be applicable. Yeah, we could all just go with our own idea of zombies and the event, but then there's no consistency in the thread and the discussion as a whole. Alternatively, we could each attempt to account for all of the different possibilities, but then you couldn't have much detail in your plans, without droning on and on with ifs and buts. I think this would be a lot more worthwhile if we had a more specific scenario/"rule set" laid out.
With people's locations, skills, and supplies, obviously these factors would vary and be representative of their current situations in reality. But the hypothetical factors need to be defined. What is the nature of 'zombification'? Where did the outbreak start? How fast is it spreading? How informed is the public of the event? How informed are you of the event? What can kill them? Do they freeze to death? How long can they go without feeding? How fast is their movement? How keen are their senses?
Depending on the massive array of factors, vastly different plans and ideas could be reasonable, or foolish.

Re: Zombie Apocalypse Survival Plans
Zombies will be able to use there human like body to it's best of it's ability and strongest use, being able to run very fast if the body is slim or muscular or slow if the body's fat.
The Epidemic might be air born infecting the masses of people in days(world wide). The government will probably send out distress and safety message through media like the classic "The dead are walking and they eat you" message's. Most people will be ready for this Zombie Apocalypse(look at the vast zombie survival forums)and the only way to kill a zombie is to destroy the brain.

Re: Zombie Apocalypse Survival Plans
First I get the shotgun. Then get the pistol. Call friends that are most realistic and have good aiming skills. After that get our hands on a 4x4 with rollbars and ♥♥♥♥. Go A-Team style with the 4x4 and weld windows and ♥♥♥♥ with metal plates. Raise a metal fence on the 2m garden wall. Get as much food as we can and store in the second floor. Get as much guns and ammo as we can and store it in the attic. Get body armor while we're at it. Get the rabbits and chicken to work. Snipe newcomers from the balcony and the roof. Take advantage of being on the high hillside. Set up binoculars and scoped rifles on the second floor windows. Lead away hordes away before they even get close by baiting them with the 4x4 into a water canal or something and then dynamite them. House can sustain 6-10 people. Lots of shotgun shells and AK47 rounds and good sniper rifles like Remington...

Re: Zombie Apocalypse Survival Plans
You guys can have your "strongholds", but mine is impenetrable. The house can open up and close at will. So I can open the defenses to go scavenging, close them once I leave, then return and open up. Then close again.

Re: Zombie Apocalypse Survival Plans
Do you live there?
As procrastination for biology:
My plan is essentially: If the authorities are issuing plans and they sound good (eg: come to a nearby military base and batten down, we have food and drink and guns) then go with that. This is the most likely route.
Otherwise (if for some reason the military and police and public defence in general are incapacitated): Collect a small, sharp paring knife I have lying around and attach it to a shortened (~40-60cm) broom handle in case anything drastic happens quickly. The plan would be to gtfo, not fight, but if worst comes to worst being able to stab at some range would be great, and the paring knife shouldn't get stuck in any wounds. Honestly, the fact that this is the most practical weapon I could construct at short notice gives some indication of how much I'm _not_ planning on fighting the whole time.
Sit down for 10 minutes or so and have a think (an apocalypse would be a bit of a ♥♥♥♥, processing that behind locked doors would likely be easier than doing so on the go), drink some coffee and eat food. Contact parents, and as they're many kilometers away, say farewell in case either of us don't make it. Contact girlfriend, request she driver over. Contact the friends that matter most and ask what their plans are, suggest mine if they're blank. In all honesty that involves ~8 people maximum, with 3 being priority. Get changed: Jeans, undershirt (long sleeves and thermal waffle), tee, jacket. Gloves, though I only have fingerless. Light strong shoes for walking. No jacket if the weather's >25-30 degrees but take it. Glasses because shortsightedness does wonders for decreasing your survival time. Pack bag, 5 cans of beans (~1 week if I'm clever with it) as well as some fresher things for comfort in the first few days. Apples make me more cheerful. As many muesli bars as I can fit into my bag for quick energy. Two bottles of water. One set of extra clothes, 2 sets of extra underwear and socks - I can drop them later if I need to go more rugged but considering how small and light they are I may as well. Phone, fully charged if possible, MP3 player to help preserve some cheer and to listen to the radio. 1 small diary and 3 pencils. Wallet and keys, natch. All of that will fit into my backpack, if I want to travel a bit heavier (more food) I have a satchel as well. I'd be a lot slower -> less able to get away if there were zeds and less able to travel distances on foot, so it'd be a decision I'd make in the moment. Extra stuff to take: Sketchbook, some knives, screwdriver, hammer, more water, more food.
Then contact the friend who's house I'm planning to rendezvous at. Assuming he's available, head there - the catch is that involves travelling ~18km. On foot, I can make that in ~3 hours, but that's a lot of zombie time... That's only a catch if Amy's dead or otherwise unavailable to drive, but it's something to consider.
If we've got some forewarning and it isn't actually hell on earth on the streets, not a problem, off I go. The other option is stealing a car or roughing it on foot, and I'd likely end up going for the latter.
Assuming I don't die on the way, the plan is to hold up there in the under-house area (hopefully at least with the friend who's place it is, Amy, and the 3 other friends mentioned), where there are 2 shotguns, upwards of 300 shells, and a crapload of canned food. Bolt the door, reinforce the windows, attach spikes to everything and listen to the radio. If we're forced to move from there, take as much ammo, food and water as we can carry, keep low and don't engage.
That's it. The long term plans aren't concrete yet, they'd depend on the particulars of the situation.

Re: Zombie Apocalypse Survival Plans
I live in a terribly overpopulated country. When ♥♥♥♥ would hit the fan over here traffic jams would instantly keep me from escaping by car. I have a motorcycle, but with all those psychos on the road looking to escape I would be without it quite fast. (A wooden plank to the head while I drive by comes to mind.) Since guns are illegal and hard to get over here I'd have to do with my blunt metal sword which would break within 2-3 blows, and a morning star, which is very clumsy to use. Not to mention really uneffective when more than 1 zombie surrounds me. Due to this overpopulation the zombie infection would probably spread like crazy as well. TL;DR: I am ♥♥♥♥.

Gotcha! wrote: TL;DR: I am ♥♥♥♥. Same. I could hide out in the outback, but I have no idea how to survive in the outback. Eat some poisonous scorpions and drink cactus juice I suppose. I live only a few kilometers away from Sydney, and assuming that the disease originates at the airport or something, I'd imagine it wouldn't be long before the zeds get here. One option that comes to mind is a suburb a bit closer to the coast. Attached to my area by only a mangrove covered strip of land, with one road, and surrounded by water, it would be fairly easy to barricade up. The large oil refinery there has small arms for security purposes, and I assume a bit of ammo. Lots of residents there have large properties with chickens and such, but I don't think that would be enough food. There are plenty of boats, rods, and fuel, so fishing would be a major source of food. Perhaps hunting with pistols in a National Park could work. Plenty of wombats, rabbits, and birds. I actually think that 50 or so people would be sufficient to grow their own food and fish, and survive indefinitely. Assuming, that is, that zombies can't swim.
