@ Neo-Kenpachi: 2nd World doesn't means what you think it means.

Anyways, saw D9 last night. A couple parts were a little nonsensical or farfetched (such as breaking out of a high security lab with just a scalpel or being turned entirely into an alien) but was pretty good nonetheless.

OP, I think thats because Somalians are too poor to make movies, they are too busy robbing UNICEF food banks and pillaging to make movies.

Not to mention that South Africa is considered a rising democracy. If you are from SA, I would certainly question the integrity of your educational system--and that's sad coming from an American.

And Cling Clang, oh wise Wikipedia scholar, consider checking out this useful wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspension_of_disbelief

This forum gives me a headache

Hey. I was one of those people. Are you calling me creepy, boy? :U

Also the movie was awesome. Go see it, even if you're not a big fan of sci-fi.

^

I laughed.

Also, will wait to buy the movie, as we have a room in my house designed specifically for movies and stuff.

So I finally got to see it, I enjoyed the Sci-fi bits, I enjoyed the politics, I enjoyed the action, and I enjoyed laughing at people popping, for the same reason I laughed when Rorschach left a Rorschach.

This movie was left very open for a sequel, but in such a way that they can't make one. If they made a sequel based on how this movie ended, it would be an entirely different type of movie, it would be more about blowing stuff up, and less about the character development and any semblance of a plot.

also, who here when they mentioned being moved from district 9 to district 10, thought of City 17 and Nova Prospekt?

I am going to see it on Thursday, really looking forward to. Bringing my moms sci fi fan boyfriend. We'll see if he loves it

Nobody, because there is no connection.

Yeah, seriously. I would ask for an explanation of this awful analogy, but I don't really want to be ♥♥♥♥ with a dissertation on something even the creative director and lead writers of the film didn't care about.

Saw it yesterday. It was a good movie, but unfortunately I ended up coming into the theater in the last few minutes and being left with front-row seating, which, as you can probably imagine, made the movie a bit difficult to watch given the documentary-style shaky cam.

It wasn't an analogy. It was just a matter of "hey, there being relocated from crappy town to crappier town, and they have no choice.... Just like city 17" Thats it. that little bit reminded me of it. Oh not to mention that whole thing of dude being turned into anti-citizen one, while the MNU hunt him down through district 9 which they don't care about. (while gordon freeman is anti-citizen one, while the combine hunt him down through city 17 which they don't care about)

you know what, screw it, it was an analogy. district 9 is like half life 2, in the sense that you have to ignore the rest of the universe involved.

The Directors and writers might not have cared, noticed, or intended on it, but it does make a decent analogy.

I got this vide also, I mean, even the aliens looked like vortigants!

Anyways, my bromide and I finally went, and we liked it. I would suggest it to peoples. It's a pretty decent movie.

city 17 was a prison city, in that you can not leave.

District 9 is a prison city in that you can't leave.

District 10 was a Concentration camp, as mentioned in the movie, and is thereby a prison.

Nova prospekt was a prison.

This too.

And the dude in D9, was like gordon freeman, in that he was some random nerdy guy who got thrown into this whole mess against his will and forced to fight for his life, and ultimately ends up working to save the people who ultimately wanted to kill him before. then again I suppose I could give the same analogy with Jesus, optimus prime, and Neo.

--edit--
Also this isn't really taking anything away from the movie, only adding to it.
