It's all dependent on server settings. By default, the cap is at 16MB of data. Any really good build map will be well above that, hence why he's complaining that none of them download. Servers rarely set their download chunk size limits above default due to bandwidth issues. I have never ever managed to download a map from a server. It annoys me. Can't go to any server which has a map that I don't have. Thought other mods aren't a problem...

Re: G-MOD
The most fun I get out of gmod right now is mapping and making my own personal stuff... well I haven't made anything yet but I'm sure theirs lots of cool things I could make. Building for me is boring because I can't think of anything original to make. Gmod is worth the money if you have a RL friend who has it too because you can actually have fun in sandbox. Garry REALLY should be adding more stuff in because he can and it would sell more copys. OffTopic: Raintail99 your sig... its, massive

It always takes a little while, but in the end I get whatever map they're using.

How the **** are you able to construct something, when every single thing has a 1-1,5 second delay. And the map problem.. Well thats why I'm used to play only with friends online.

So, it stretches pages far beyond what they should be. Seriously, There's a sig size limit enforced on EVERY OTHER FORUM THAT ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT ANYTHING for a reason... For that matter, I'm pretty sure nobody cares enough about those things for you to have massive quotes of them under every post you make. Link them with one or two words, not colossal quotes that are longer than your entire post. Look at my sig. One line. That's all I really need. ...100 pixels; insert reference point here, is seriously all you should need for anything. Most forums I've been to enforce a very strict policy that signatures are under that.

Servers rarely set their download chunk size limits above default due to bandwidth issues. Quite the opposite, any really terrible build map will be well above that. Build maps shouldn't be above 16mb. That's ridiculously stupid. Even then, servers that aren't terrible(TT, NN, FS, etc) either don't use gigantic maps or set their limit higher. Oh and wait, what's a .bz2? Who's ever heard of that? COMPRESSION? That's just ridiculous! No maps are over 16mb, and if they are, the server is run by a twat who can't use compression properly.

Re: G-MOD
GMod and Source overall should just use a P2P Downloading protocol. If its a server like HL2Land or TnB that is almost constantly full of people and that utilizes alot of addons, Using a P2P Downloading system would significantly reduce server load and would help to get all of those files much quicker. I don't see why they don't introduce something like this.
