Both would allow light from the PC outside... and the first one would also spray-paint your nice, clean and cozy bunker with zombie blood and/or guts.

Clearly you have never watched Soylent Green

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
When did I say to seal everything up? If it is a basement the air will come from the ground floor, and there will not many, if not no windows. Light will probably not escape. The idea for that is to avoid conflict and to not attract attention. Hopefully there will not be a zombie problem. If there is, the alarm would go off and you would search for the zombie.
Also, I have never used one, but with 11 people using the bicycle generators for maybe an hour each you could probably get all the electricity you need for a day. (Just using radios, a TV, and a little laptop)

(horhorhor game reference)

The Plan
I propose a new hypothetical scenario. everyone but you and 10 others are dead in a radius of 2000 miles. try and describe what you would do to survive, and be a descriptive as possible in armaments, strategies, fortifications, roles, and the like. i guess make a gameplan that can be implemented with no previous ownership of just about everything, save a few cars and your house.
well first i would round up everyone and then immediately fortify the most advantageous house. the 2 story ones are my choice as destroying the staircase would be pretty simple and getting a metal pole or rope to climb up instead is simple enough for most. once we start supply runs i would also install a pulley system to get the materials up. after we have a decently fortified position with enough materials to last us for a long extent of time, i would send out recon teams to find more suitable areas, such as a concrete multistory building with a large open lobby for picking off the undead that wander in. again i would destroy the stairs and make the elevators so you need the keys to operate them, as i don't want some random zombie shambling in and getting lucky. after that we can look for power sources such as the power generating back and batteries to hold the charge for times when we can't use them. after that just the occasional trip into town for supplies and finding seeds to grow food on the roof, and we could have a stable community until the threat dies down and we can start to repopulate and colonize. oh yeah, lots of raids on pharmacies. medicine is nice to have.

Against a flammable gas producing bacteria-ridden, atrophied walking corpse. According to this thread anyway. If it got lodged, I reckon it'd do some decent damage.

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
eh, would only take one out, if anything. I'd rather an air rifle than a flare gun, and eye shots are pretty hard to muster. one shot that would attract a lot of attention and can take out one zombie doesnt sound worth it to me.

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
Probably a mace for short range, and some 2mm nylon cord, for some traps, I just need a few immovable objects.
Maces are fun for disfiguring, and the rope and large objects as for stopping those wankers.
