Post Re: Dwarf Fortress
You're all failures who refuse to ♥♥♥♥ go. Here I go again.

1st Granite, 1053 Early Spring

I've set a lever that toggles an open floodgate to be pulled. Heads will fly if that lever is not pulled before the thaw. Dwarves are in the party they made in winter still. I've set the dining hall to be engraved, wood to be chopped, bed to be made, and offices for the noble to be mined out. Courtyard construction will continue after I steal ♥♥♥♥ from the elves.

Image

16th Granite, 1053 Early Spring

Elven caravan is here. Going to take their ♥♥♥♥ like I did before.

Image

Progress update on dining room. I have to keep destroying parties by remaking the room. It was cute before, but not any more. fucking dwarves

Image

19th Granite, 1053 Early Spring

Holy ♥♥♥♥. The dwarves have engraved a message.

Image

Do you see it? Here, let's have a closer look.

Image

Nothing else interesting happening. Stole ♥♥♥♥ from the traders. That's all.

25th Granite, 1053 Early Spring

The dwarves keep naming batmen that frequent the area. It's rather odd, really.

Image

Engravers are making the dining room pretty legendary still. I think I'm going to start up a Chinese food restaurant with all these cats.

5th Slate, 1053 Mid-Spring

Erectin' a fortress. Dispensing a party. The planted stuff is starting to ripen now, and brewing is commencing. Hopefully that'll speed things up.

Image

17th Slate, 1053 Mid-Spring

Wow our hunter is a big dumb vagina. He never hunted anything in the first place, and got struck down by a GOBLIN SNATCHER! Jesus christ. The soldier guarding was getting a drink while the snatcher came. Tell me how the ♥♥♥♥ he didn't rape that goblin with his crossbow. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Image

27th Slate, 1053 Mid-Spring

I'm starting a kennel so that we can have tamed dogs etc. I plan on trapping the batmen and training them to suck ♥♥♥♥. An animal dissector is our new hunter. I personally hope he dies too because he does nothing but idle like a lazy ♥♥♥♥. The office and bedroom are almost done for the mayor. A+

Image

1st Felsite, 1053 Late Spring

Migrant wave.

Image

  • Tuna Tunakdol, Animal Trainer
  • Bomrek Okirrigoth, Dyer -- Going to be a recruit
  • Uabok Rigocock, Fish Dissector -- Another recruit
  • Oddom Zonod, Engineer(Novice Mechanic/pump op/siege engine)
  • Nomol Onolliniem, Metalsmith(Novice Metalsmith/metalcrafter/furnaceop)
  • Stukos Whocaresenhiem, Peasent -- Recruit
  • Idd Cattenbokbon, Gem Cutter -- Recruit.
  • Risen Thuses, Herbalist
  • Udib Zuglarbib, Fish Dissector
  • Catten Zogubob, Pump Operator
  • Urist Meatshield, Peasent -- Recruit
  • Zuglar Unibush, Metalcrafter
  • Cow calf
  • Horse foal
  • Goden Timerature, Cook
  • Zasit Orruncol, Trapper -- Recruit
  • Ignish Mullearne, Miller -- Recruit
  • Mule
  • War dog
  • Sodel Goddenud, Siege Engineer
  • Kikrost Assendasel, Peasent -- Recruit
  • Chinese food, Kitten
  • Cow Calf
  • Ducim Dakenbof, Tanner
  • Stukos Thaersentm, Peasent -- Recruit

In total, 19 dwarves. Going to start up weapon making so my army will have some weapons. Need to mine out an area. Here's the designation:

Image

Got promoted to Mayor, my guy did. Going to have to make a lot of these new people miners. Need more.

16th Felsite, 1053 Late Spring

FEY MOOD!

Image

He's taken a craftsdwarfs shop and wants Metal Bars, Stone Blocks, Tanned Hides, and Wood Blocks. I'm sticking a cage trap at the entrance to his workshop so we can catch him when he goes berserk. I don't know if I can get metal bars to him in time.

1st Hematite, 1053 Early summer

I don't know what you want? It's summer. A++. I'm waiting for my ♥♥♥♥ woodworkers to make a bucket so I can make an ashery. Stone blocks and tanned hides done. Here's some pictures of our lavish top-story rooms and offices for mayor/fortress guard, there's ugly rooms downstairs under it where I keep the 3x2 rooms for the jews dwarves that flood in--
Image

Here's progress on the metalsmithing area--
Image

Here's the near-finished fortress--
Image

Here's the statistics--
Image

9th Hematite, 1053 Early Summer

Human merchants arrived. Trying to get someone to take over the wood burning and make some ♥♥♥♥ charcoal. So far no success(lazy bastards).

Image

17th Hematite, 1053 Early Summer

Doren the metalsmith was elected Mayor. Oh well. Those traders are here still. I got some metal bars and leather, but the fey mood man is still asking for metal bars, wood logs, and stone blocks. I don't know how to please him.

19th Hematite, 1053 Early Summer

Image

Goblin ambush. I sure do wish my useless ♥♥♥♥ recruits would have been sparring in their off-time. Oh well. I'll station them at the front of the fortress.

These goblins move fast. They got pretty close and nearly kiled one of my dwarves before he could get inside the fortress. The human guards are pretty useless, they all died. My one guy that got out in time for this first round got killed near-instant. Their leader is dead, but the archers are not.
Image
Image
Image

Time for round two.

OH GOD MORE GOBLINS

Image

But, turns out human merchants are a lot better at fighting than their well-equipped guards. A merchant is fighting the goblins and making them run away.

Image

There's a human pikeman dealing with the second goblin group. He's made short work of two, and the others are already turning back before they even reach my fort. The pikeman is going for them.

Image

Most of the goblins got away. He got two. Casualties:
  • 1 Horse foal
  • 6 goblins
  • 4 Human guards
  • 3 Dwarf recruits(lazy ♥♥♥♥♥♥s should have trained more)
  • 1 Dwarf wrestler
  • 1 Hunter
  • 2 Kittens

11th Malachite, 1053 Mid-Summer

Heh. I finally made a metal bar and the guy took it and is now working furiously on a mysterious construction. 100% chance it's a useless piece of ♥♥♥♥ that is only worth selling. He's just a craftsdwarvf.

Image

15th Malachite, 1053 Mid-Summer

That craftsdwarf only made an oaken toy axe. How useless.

24th Malachite, 1053 Mid-Summer

Some migrants have arrived.

Image

And they are:
  • Zuglar Tundorlen, Jeweler -- Recruit
  • Id Desistobul, Fish Cleaner -- Recruit
  • Led Nishlimar, Cook
  • Gilob Idenmiser, Peasent -- Recruit
  • Sardash Alibab, Pump Op -- Recruit
  • Catten Tekudibruk, Mason
  • Goden Fegsbal, Peasant
  • Morul Solonstukos, Bone Carver

That's 8 dwarves, we now have 71. Excellent.

7th Galena, 1053 Late Summer

Well, the training is going somewhat well. I have one squad on always-active and one squad always-inactive for training. I switch dwarves out between the two. One dwarf has become a novice wrestler. Soon he'll be better. The marksdwarves are taking unusually long to train.

Image

I'm smoothing walls of the workshops too.

Image

That's about it. Nothing new. We created a masterpiece woodcraft. Not that interesting.

11th Galena, 1053 Late Summer

Image

First marksdwarf + motion diagram.

13th Galena, 1053 Late Summer

Image

Second marksdwarf. The entire marksdwarf training squad is finished changing classes. Now they just need to level up past novice marksdwarf.

23rd Galena, 1053 Late Summer

Fey mood, ♥♥♥♥ yeah! He's going to claim a gemcutters workshop, and I probably have all the materials he needs already.

Image

1st Limestone, 1053 Early Autumn

Not much to report. Trying to get bones, an iron bar and "logs" for the fey mood.
Status:
Image

Edit~ Hey, I completed giving everyone beds on this day too.
Image

10th Limestone, 1053 Early Autumn

The dwarven caravan has arrived. I'll be doing some good trading with them.

Image

The fey mood guy has been working for a while. He has all the parts. It should be done soon.

Speak of the devil. I wonder if I can use this at our entrance.
Image

Yup, looks great.
Image

16th Sandstone, 1053 Mid-Autumn

I'm going to update only on extremely interesting events. Or milestones. All the recruits in the training squad are now at least novice wrestlers, many being wrestlers.
Image
After they become expert/legendary wrestlers or whenever they become very tough/strong I'm going to switch them over to sword sparring. This is so that they are tough and don't kill eachother while sparring.

18th Sandstone, 1053 Mid-Autumn

Three kobold thieves attacked while the caravans were leaving. Two were dominated by the caravan guards, one was dominated by my two recruits I posted out front. It's a shame they didn't get to my war dogs OR line of weapon traps.

Image

♥♥♥♥, Migrants. In the same day too. Hopefully these migrants will boost the population near 90. I have extra beds waiting.
Image

Let's do the list!
  • Erith Eralugosh, Jewler -- Recruit
  • Urist Cilobstukos, Stonecraft
  • Vucar Kibomer, Peasant
  • Mistem Uzlibomrek, Brewer
  • Mebzuith Razleshnazzle, Peasant
  • Edem Likotothos, Gem cutter
  • Lòr Nitiglòr, Peasant(Hehe, with universal english `+o = that o. Easy.)
  • Shorast Dodokkithin, Animal Caretaker -- Recruit
  • Kumil Tithlethereal, Trapper
  • Likoth Roberreal, Peasant
  • Horse foal
10 dwarves. That brings our population to: 81. It'll be 100 by the end of next year.

9th Timber, 1053 Late Autumn

I have begun construction of a siege workshop and ballista.I plan on putting ballista in the pillboxes. Goblins you have no chance to survive make your time.

Image

Snow fell by the way. Some of the traps that were red are now white.

1st Moonstone, 1053 Early Winter

Winter. I'm hoping for a siege in my turn. If not, almost guaranteed for the next turn's player. Thinking I'm going to dump all the stone infesting the ground of my fortress and recruit anyone under normal skill level in a skill who dares to idle.

Doing towers and fortifications on the walls. The recruits I make will definitely be archers.
Image

First ballista is up.
Image

Going to make a few more siege operators and train them on catapults I'm putting at the top of towers. The wrestlers are now mostly competent. Only one or two of them are tough. That's not good. They better train faster before there's a siege and I have to send them out as fodder.

I'm thinking of building a floodgate main-gate operated by one lever. Would stop the enemy from getting in if a siege happened.

3rd Opal, 1053 Mid-Winter

AHHH ENGRAVING SPAM
Image

In other news, fort still being reinforced. No siege yet.
Image

2nd Obsidian, 1053 Late Winter

hey wait a secan heer

Image

:V

Fort is almost done. I just need to finish one of the bigger towers. Hopefully I'll be able to do it in time. If not, oh well.

1st Granite, 1053 Early Spring
My turn is over.
Image

The entire fortress at ground level:
Image

The entire fortress at Ground level +1:
Image

The entire fortress at Ground level +2:
Image

The entire fortress at ground level -1:
Image

Some things to note about the fortress for my successor--
  • Items are dumped off the cliff near the farm
  • You are going to need to designate wood chopping sites. The ones I set are going to run out.
  • Preserve wood.
  • Catapult on the +2 level tower is still being built
  • Well only needs to be refilled MAYBE once.
  • No clue what most of the levers do.
  • Switch the squad with all the wrestlers in it to use swords after they're all legendary or close. Don't do it sooner or they might kill eachother. Keep this squad as the training squad, swap people in it with the always-active squad(the one with 2 recruits) after they get decent in swordsmanship.
  • Get more marksdwarves. Only put them on duty when you're under siege or something.
  • You'll need to keep making barrels and messing with the breweries to keep beer going.
  • The area with engravings on the beds z-level = the tombs.
  • Train siege operators on the catapult after construction.

Also I'm sick of these ♥♥♥♥♥♥s taking forever. We really should have a new system, like whoever starts posting a log after downloading the last person's first gets to go. But stick with the list for now.

Apparently they're naming the batmen.
Taking bets on how many it'll take before they name one Bruce Wayne.
Yuk yuk..
Anywho, shiny new Bay12 forums are up. Still waiting on new game update.
World generation has been made much more awesome.
I'd say we're at about 95%.
All 10 stages are completed except for 4, which is basically done except for a few major bugs that Toady (coder of DF, for those of you who aren't following) skipped.
I'd join you guys, except the only versions of DF I have atm are heavily modded.

I don't bother with sites that don't work in Firefox. I don't plan on making anything interesting in my turn. I was, but we lack the materials to build it.

By the way for those who don't know, I'm putting updates into that big post as I go.

Ducking out, I vote you guys ignore the list and just go with whoever announces they are taking the turn first.

Seriously, I took a look at the save and ♥♥♥♥ argh. You have a goddamn castle. I have no idea how to do half the stuff you're doing. Joining in seemed like a good idea when you were smaller. The DRL Fortress has grown beyond my abilities. Basically I suck, and it's too big.

Sorry.

<3 Graphics pack, not necessary, but eye candy is fun. I understand the original ASCII fine, but the graphics pack makes it fun.

The channel is for water.

There are gaps in your line of traps.

I don't understand how the bunkers are going to work. I assume those walls are made up of straight fortifications.
