i never said to dispense of guns, i'm just saying, conserve ammo when you can with what you can.

On the subject of ammo-free kills, would a choke-hold be effective against a lone zombie d'you think?

hmm... effective yes. wise, no. i mean it could kill them because they need oxygen like we do, but i would never risk getting that close with my bare hands on decaying flesh. maybe if i had some bite and scratch proof clothing, but i would prefer lopping it's head off in all cases.

Perfect for choke holds without the risk.

claw is awesome. billy mayes reccomends it.
I propose a new hypothetical scenario. everyone but you and 10 others are dead in a radius of 2000 miles. try and describe what you would do to survive, and be a descriptive as possible in armaments, strategies, fortifications, roles, and the like. i guess make a gameplan that can be implemented with no previous ownership of just about everything, save a few cars and your house.

I love how so many people make up extremely varying fiction on zombies. Though, all zombies I've heard of need no air.

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
well as grif stated earlier, moving an organism as big as a human would require it. which makes more sense. but i guess fiction is fiction, so take as you like.

Yeah, I think not needing air is bs too. If you want to be scientific, go on. I'm just saying that most zombies, at least horror zombies, are depicted as not needing oxygen.

First of all, secure a house. barricade all the doors by closing, locking and pushing heavy stuff in front of them. same for windows. Live on the top floor. This is temporary. Scout around, in pairs and only in daylight and look for: - Large all terrain vehicles. Jeeps, etc. We'll probably need 3. - Weapons. Guns etc. - Medical supplies - Camping supplies - Seeds, etc. - Biggest truck we can find - Building materials and tools. - Solar panels, turbines, any easy way of generating power. - Knowledge. As mentioned earlier, get a decent computer and then steal hard-drives and books everywhere. How Stuff Works website is top priority. Once we have enough of these resources, we head out to the country. Put everything in the truck and everything else in the cars. Build a remote, self sufficient commune. Hopefully we can build/grow/do without anything we need, but if not a large armed convoy can do raids on small towns for supplies. Major population areas are to be avoided at all costs.

Please elaborate. Zombies? What killed everyone else? Everything within 2000 miles is dead?

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
With my little group i'd search for/gather: A nice house with big walls, and a nice basement. Earplugs Bicycle generators Electronics
Radio Television Headphones Computer Cellphone Portable electric stove Rechargeable batteries Paper/Notepads Guns Ammunition Weapons Canned foods Large amounts of water Security systems (That set off silent alarms, no need to attract attention. Just make some red lights come on, you know the deal.) Flare gun Anything else that can be found. Set up all security systems, then settle into the basement. Bring down furniture, beds, etc. If there is no furniture or bedding, gather them. Live down in the basement of the house, have all lights turned off upstairs. With the bicycle generator you can get exercise and get electricity, which will be required. Use radios to monitor the situation and to find out if help is coming. Use the computer and cellphone to call for help periodically. Cook food with the electric stoves. Most foods need to be refrigerated, or spoil after a month, except for canned foods. Some foods require water to make, which should be avoided. Make sure to keep entertained with the computers, television, etc.in the case that you have to stay hunkered down for a long time, want to make sure you don't lose those marbles. Always use headphones for all electronics that produce sound, as to reduce the chance of being noticed by any wandering zombies. Keep earplugs handy, you might have to stay in the house with moaning zombies surrounding you. Conserve ammunition and water. Avoid confrontation with man or zombie. Stay low. Hopefully such a strategy will let you hold out for long enough until help comes.

Replace a fan with a sharp....spinny...object. Anti-zombe power, and it recirculates air. Or just add grating over the intakes and outakes.
