Re: MMO Discussion Thread (Never gonna find one -.-)
The best we ever came to a DRL MMO was Voyage Century Online, which we actually had a working guild, were actually making money, and were pretty much up and coming to not suck.

Re: MMO Discussion Thread (Never gonna find one -.-)
From what i read. Tabula Rasa is going to be free (Yes. No playing fees.) starting 5 January.
Let's start the small FAQ.
Q: Why suddently choose to be free? A: The servers are going to be closed on February. Closed, like. Forevah'!
I know, that's not alot of time.

Sounds like the kind of MMORPG I would probabily play. Yeah, what other features breaks this from an ordinary MMORPG?

Re: The Chronicles of Spellborn
That's all it needs to be good.
Now let's make it free and give it a cash shop so I'll play it.
Also moving it to America would help.

If it gets popular enough while being free then they're going to leave it free and open a cash shop.

Re: The Chronicles of Spellborn
It'll be in America soonish. Anyways, it seems to me like an MMO Hack-and-slash. Which is epic. I'm setting it up right now, will evaluate later.

Don't feel like going through the rigor of making my computer look European.
We'll see what's happened by the time it comes to the US.

Re: MMO Discussion Thread (Never gonna find one -.-)
Dont bother. Its not actually f2p Its got lvl cap of like 10 and only 2 areas for 'f2p' players. Its like what Dofus did. Only Dofus was ♥♥♥♥ awesome.

Re: MMO Discussion Thread (Never gonna find one -.-)
I made the assumption that no one was posting p2p games in here.
Anyways, lobby-based isn't necessarily bad, but it belongs in the Weekly Pickups thread, not here.
VCO was truly the closest we came to having a reliable and powerful presence in a game. I think towards the end the few of us who were left made allies in one of the largest Houses and joined them as Datarealms collapsed. RIP however many millions I dumped into that wonderful and dysfunctional little House. Something similar might work, but I am actually running out of space on my hard drive, so I'd rather we NOT go into something that will require ~6 GB of space. As far as I am concerned it can be a mediocre or cookie cutter game for the most part, as long as it doesn't absolutely suck and we can get people to have fun playing together it should be fine, really.

Re: MMO Discussion Thread (Never gonna find one -.-)
Never heard of VCO and it was kinda sad with spellborn, they market the client as a free client but the only was you make it past lvl 10 is with monies.
