Don't know if you guys know about Marble Hornets. It started with a paranormal image contest on somethingawful. The purpose was to make a scary image and convince a paranormal website or group that it was real.
One of the creations was the Slender Man. A tall, multiarmed, possibly tentacled, man with no face. It spawned a lot of creepypasta stories and fan fics. Some even going as far as things like, the Marble Hornet project.

What Areku said. Impressive technology, especially lined up against the others, but the regular sprites are still better and anyone who prefers the newer ones is probably raised on Mountain Dew, Xbox 360, Poptarts, and dirt.
