Re: The Lounge So for months now I've been blissfully unaware of DRM and what it means. However, after seeing it on DRLFF many a time, I finally decided to look it up and find out what it meant. So I went to Wikipedia, which didn't help at all. The most I got from it was that it's some kind of policy regarding how one uses hardware. That's it, though. So does someone wanna' help me understand this legal mumbo-jumbo?

Any technology that limits what you may do with your device or software. The more extreme examples of this are always-online requirements for games, where if you're not logged in you're not able to play the game.
Milder forms are like pre-b24 Cortex where you had to have a registered key to play beyond 6 minutes.
For hardware, this is things like game consoles getting updates that brick your machine if it's found to have anything but the official software on it.
EDIT: Ninja'd, though that's not the entire story.
