I see. I should have informed better myself before.

I'm on /v/ for vidya gams, it's not bad. I'd probably go to /a/ (for anime) or /u/ (not really sure, but it's some about sister medium to anime, looks better than /a/) if I wanted to anime though.

/pol/ is the political board. They are very good at fact checking. Currently they are the header for 4chan's involvement in the Quinnspiracy, and OpFerguson.

... In the very least, only /b/ will be a harm to your health.

Anyways guys, people have launched sister ventures into combating the SJW/fake-progressive movement that's taken over gaming industry, and shut down rational debate of gender politics and the likes: The Saarkesian Effect: Serious Look into SJW-Tactics

Every board has its average user, great user, and bad user (generally refered to as a shitposter) stereotype. /pol/'s great user is the fact checker, the average is pretty much a libertarian, the shitposter would be the stormfront guys who seem to be a mirror image of SJWs. I don't go to /pol/ because I don't really have the same values as a libertarian or ancap; I dislike frequents of the board in general because the stormfront guys invade other boards all the time. But it's a nice enough board, and they have some funny jokes that SOME users may actually take seriously. JIDF are actively monitoring my post.
Any board is good if you can look past the shitty vocal minority. Except /soc/

In other news, Anita Sarkeesian uploaded a new Feminist Frequency video. My hypothesis is that she's doing it to direct attention away from Zoe Quinn, as Anita definitely knows her videos are vilified.

The lack of new information is starting to disintegrate things.

I wonder what makes things catchy. Like, what is the formula for creating a catchy tune or lyric. For example, this song:

I still haven't even tried to pay attention to the lyrics except for a couple of lines, I don't really care about the pony stuff and I haven't even watched the video once. I have no idea why, but this song is stuck in my head. Does anyone know something about this kind of things? I think it's very interesting, since that song doesn't have anything in particular that I like, in fact it has more things that I dislike, but it's still stuck there.

I don't think there's actually a pattern or anything behind catchy music. I think it's just random and varies from person to person.

That song, for example, wasn't catchy to me whatsoever. But this song is.

Hell, I've been humming that tune for over a month now, I think.

Oh, and I'm still alive. Just incase people were wondering :p

verse bridge chorus with AABA lyrics works really well. Pop artists generally employ this

Brief musical knowledge segment:

although Sothe has an observation on popular music structure, there are an enormous number of "catchy" melodies that are founded on predictable chord progressions and strong bass lines. Listening to both of those tracks I was actually able to preempt the next chord for a large amount of the piece. Listen again to both but focus on the bass line for them and see what you think.

Yeah theres lots of interesting ways to make catchy music. What draws me in the most is music played off of minor scales I think.

Minor or aeolian? The raised seventh makes one helluva difference.

i know what you mean when you talk about predicting the next chords in the song, ive been able to do that for a long time but not exactly accurately and most certainly without knowing the names of the actual chords or notes. though now im learning 2 instruments, im still not huge on music theory but it makes more sense than before i knew anything.

speaking of, my fingers are still red just from pressing on the strings of my guitar. it makes it hard to play because i feel like im cutting myself, but i know it will get better soon enough. it just sucks since i can feel it for the rest of the day pretty much, especially when i type and stuff.

I've known people get serious skin problems from guitars. Try and stick a small break in between playing and keep your fingers and strings clean.
