Re: The Lounge
I have incredible problems to concentrate when I'm trying to study. Does anyone know ways to focus more?

I've found that, for me, the only way to concentrate is to be in absolute silence. Even listening to classical or calming music tends to distract me from studying. That's me, though; I know that there are some that study better while listening to music, and etc.

Are you asking how to program? 'cause there are plenty of people here who can, myself included.

Re: The Lounge
Yes.
I'm planning to start by making a top-down Zelda-esque "RPG" with Java, shouldn't be that hard, right?
Graphics are going to be low-res, ofc. I've made a bunch of mockups of ideas that I have. I have yet to watch a quick tutorial I found that looks similar to what I'm aiming for.

watch a lot of tutorials then ask people who know java for help if theyre really nice theyll tell you how to do things or write code snippets for you that you can use be sure to credit everyone who helped you learn when you finish the game though

Better idea: use a prebuilt engine if you actually want to complete the game. If you don't particularly care about finishing the game but want to dive into engine creation, then don't worry about getting a prebuilt, it will be a very good learning experience. If you really want to finish the game an engine is almost essential. Few people go from creating an engine to making a game by themselves all in one project.

Re: The Lounge
Especially if it's your first project. I tried doing something semi from the beginning with Löve2d. And that thing already has a shitton of stuff for drawing, sounds and other things.
You can check it out here. I ran into a lot of problems that I couldn't be assed to fix later on. Mostly due to poor organization and coding knowledge. But it was a pretty good learning experience and I can definitely recommend trying stuff, even if you have no idea what you're doing

Yeah, I realised the same thing last night, I could finally begin focusing when everyone at home was asleep at around midnight. Thanks for helping

Also this. I once tried to make my own game from scratch, and I ended up learning more of programming and java itself rather than with an usable thing. Prebuilt engines are a good idea.
