If they float, all the better. Run them over with your boat.
You also don't have to worry about not seeing them, since they will always be visible. No zombies grabbing your leg while you're crossing that swamp.

Why *bang*? Just use a really long sharpened stick. It'll deflate them instantly.

But I think the best option would be to have a few smaller cargo boats following the carrier, to save deck space to the farms and other facilities. And a destroyer, just for the sake of awesomeness, and in case it becomes necessary to force our way into Madagascar.

well an entire us carrier group is something like ten ships including at least one destroyer, and a bunch of tankers and it's in general holyshit staying power http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier_St ... omposition

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
alright. grif pretty much has the best option so far in my opinion. what to do without access to the ocean though, such as far too many zombies prowling about for a 100% safe trip? where would you hole up if you had no access to a base or other fortified structures?

No, Duh. In the case of a zombie invasion, your best bet is to be with Grif.

Y'know, sail around the globe with the carrier until you find some isolated and zombie-free island (Easter Island would be just perfect, for all that matters), drop a bunch of dudes to build a settlement, and go around the world looking for scavenge-able stuff to begin a more long-term civilization, after all, the invasion could last for a century or more, dunno. 411570N3 wrote: I suppose you could find yourself a navy base somewhere decently hot or cold. I don't think you people understand here: an anchored aircraft carrier and an island are different only in primary chemical composition; dirt vs steel.

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
i agree. what stops civilization from being able to exist upon a man made island compared to any real land mass. not much, the only issue i see is training people to maintain the ship. but you would have to do that anyway if you want even a fraction of any sort of tech to continue on into the future after such a cataclysmic event.

Re: (now a zombie killing effectiveness thread)
well, assuming the zombies dont have some sort of hard-drive-wiping property and dont specifically target books, the worlds servers full of all sorts of technological knowledge, and the many physical libraries will remain relatively intact for the next generation of engineers, technicians, doctors and whathaveyou to learn from, as well as any surviving experts in their fields. it would be pretty cool conceptually going back from a ship to the mainland and looking for server buildings, bashing down doors and taking all the hard drives out of a rack (and sneaking some of its ram), like a "recover the artifact" mission.
