I was confused as ♥♥♥♥, how did they have a hurricane, a drought and a flood all at once?! -edit Oh yeah, they deployed a vaccine, it didn't work, they started a 2nd one, then they ran out of hospitals... it took them 20 days to make the vaccine... wtf.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8030859.stmSwine flu isn't spreading as much as we thought. Well damn, here we were on the brink of extinction just to be told it's gonna be fine. I should have put money on this.

Just to cover my ass before this thread starts to die: I never said it was going to be a lethal pandemic. I said it was something to worry about, and I still stand by that statement! The strain did turn out to contain a gene we do not have a natural immunity to, and it did end up spreading to a good number of countries. Although immunity to tamiflu hasn't happened, and probably won't, the concept wasn't totally out of consideration considering how irresponsibly it is used.

I'm not trying to take the piss out of anyone here - the media hypes this ♥♥♥♥ up, they love it and they know it's nothing to worry about.

I thought that the BBC and The New York Times took it on in a pretty docile way. I don't have TV in my dorm, though, so I really have no idea what it's been like on any of the major news channels. Got any good clips?

Today, my school issued an announcement regarding the swine flu. they told us to go straight to the office if we had any symptoms.
