What's the exact process that takes all the cpu?

Im not sure , it does not have a process yet it causes maximum use.

Well cake, try bringing up the task manager and, in the processes tab, see what is using the processor.

windows 7 and vista from what I've heard don't have a processes tab in task manager, they get a crappy stripped down version. however THIS May help with that, but I don't know, for sure how it works, I'm on XP.

See, no process is taking up the CPU, its just being used.

Click the "show processes from all users" and see if there's still no processes taking it up.

Worst case scenario there's an virus hogging everything under a different user. Nice catch duh, didn't even strike my mind.

Tried that, couldn't get a screen shot because of the enormous lag. Had to button my computer.

Besides, there are no other users on this computer.

Local services are hidden in the normal view.

Try booting in safe mode to see if that helps.

Were you intentionally running four instances of Chrome?

That's how chrome works, it runs all it's plugins in seperate processes, maybe even the tabs.
Obviously highly anoying if it crashes because you won't know which to stop.

Il try that today. I remember this one piece of software I used to use that fixed problems like this, but cant remember its name, only its logo.


EDIT : The problem appears to be resolved. It was the Internet Download Manager I had installed had compatibility issues with Chrome. Updating the program fixed it.

And your other browsers don't have problems, either? You said you tried FF and IE, didn't you?
