To give a specific, non-metaphorical example,
My mother, who has been sick for a long time, and has started taking morphine, vicadine, and some other pain medicines, My Mother actually went for a week without these medications after taking them for 2 months. No withdrawal.

A friend's mother was actually taking marijuana, and she had to go long and hard to quit it.
That is partially why I am so enthusiastic about this.

Too bad that doesn't make any sense at all, and you are probably lying. Opiates are infinitely more psychologically and physically addictive than marijuana. Your friends mother was probably doped up on crack cocaine or something, too.

I'm not even going to elaborate more than that, because you're either really stupid, or a lying troll. F-

that's cool because I know a lot of responsible and extremely successful people that smoke weed recreationally and have no problems with so-called "addiction"

junkies will be junkies, weed or not. it is not the weed that is causing the addiction. it's the gigantic hole in their lives that they're trying to fill with substance abuse.

Michael Phelps. Asking for citation is cool but stop being a ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ about it.

Michael Phelps is like a high school jock. I would support legalizing hemp or whatever for the sole purpose of creating jobs and putting the economy back in shape (taxes, anyone?) People who say it's not bad are ♥♥♥♥ retards, because clearly it is. I don't care if it is, I'll never smoke it, but it would help the country out like cigarettes.

I'm betting if it was legalized, a lot of the losers would stop doing it, because then it wouldn't be rebellious or 'hardcore' enough, since it wasn't breaking a law.

Which would probably lead them to do either more detrimental substances or worse. Point is, there's always something there for people to throw their money and time away on. This is just one more.

Meh, friggin Grif, well I read articles about alcohol vs marijuana, and it turns out that marijuana is way less addictive than alcohol, and has less health risks.

@mail: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, Zachary Taylor, Franklin Pierce, Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, 12 of our presidents, have allegedly smoked marijuana. They might not all be true, but I have no doubt the majority of them are; and how much more successful can you get? They were rulers (so to speak) of the US.

Wow, that is one unbiased source you got there, Foa.

LFOW does have a point, though. Legalizing something takes care of the whole rebellious effect, but is the boost in people taking it to try it worth legalizing it?

Nice how this thread has gone subtly off topic.

OP was talking about it for industrial material use, but it has collasped into a debate over marijuana for drug use.

I also would like to mention soma, the drug in the Brave New World. Only psychologically addictive over a long time, little health effects, and look how critical it was to distract the sheeple from reality.

And at TheValiant, how long? Was it a short trial, or constant use.

Here's the link
http://www.vetocorleone.com/2009/02/12- ... -weed.html

Also, in my previous post, I didn't mean to single out drug-use. The site says that they also used it for the material, medically, only tried it, etc, etc.

I will admit, there's not a lot of proof; but there is certainly no proof any of our presidents have NOT used marijuana for drug and non-drug use.

@Ophanim: That was George W. Bush
