It's the city.

It has a ton of expensive ♥♥♥♥, it lets you change your hair, it has an auctionhouse, a movie theater, a guy who shines (see: change color of) your shoes, and a couple other things.

Oh, and there are Silver Tools, Silver Sling ( Shot Stones Per Shoot ) , S Axe ( Invincible, but doesn't have the speed bonus as the Gold one ) , Fishing Rod ( + Lure, + Hold Time ) , Can ( Res Red Turnips ) , Shovel ( + Money Rock give out ) .

Oh, and you either buy them ( Nook ) , or throw it into the Town Well ( ♥♥♥♥ Taxes, the Well lasts a week ) , or some NPC ♥♥♥♥ quest ( I'll give you it if you can do a multitude of tasks that have a 2134578634578763589 - 1 chance that you can get the correct item to continue running in circles and waiting, and spending money like there's no tomorrow, I HATE YOU YOU NEVER VISIT... NPC has left you, see you next 354564676356 years. ) .

Game Cube version was '♥♥♥♥ mental' So to speak. Wide World was al right, didn't even give City Folk a second glance though.
