I know the FPS genre is so overrated! I wish they'd make different genres FPS games get SO BORING nowadays there are so many of them!!!! Stay on topic man. He was talking about World War 2 games in particular. And he's right, WW2 games have been made since WW2 itself. There is just nothing else they can do except make it look shiny. The only interesting takes on WW2 are A) Secret Weapons/Plans/Attacks [Which arent even that good] or B) Personal stories [Like Prisoner of War] There's just not that much to do besides make the same game more polished and adding more immersion. Still, they're fun to play, and each one is different. If it were the same game over and over, but better looking each time, I would understand his point. But each game has a different storyline, although similiar, but that's due to situational constraints more than anything.

Make a new thread if you wanna talk about the storyline. I just want to know if anyone wants a game.

Thanks to the Call of Duty 4 engine, this is the best WW2 FPS ever made. And the next one will be, too. Congratulations, time marches on and no amount of improving the engine can breathe new life into a tired genre. But a WWI shooter? That'd be interesting in a wierd way. Wait for 6 hours, charge, die, respawn, wait... Don't be an ass, TFSR. I was dead-set on World at War being Treyarch's way of finally killing the CoD franchise like they tried to do with 3, but I honestly LOVE this game. If you play through the whole single player, you'll realize it's actually DIFFERENT (albeit not much) than every other game. But like I said, that's because of the engine. I believe the Call of Duty 4 engine can make any FPS better.

Re: COD:W@W
Stalingrad was my favorite part. That and the first section of Berlin. Also, zombie mode is fun, but it's no L4D.

Re: COD:W@W
Eh. If it even gets as popular as Cod4 ever was, I might buy it.
And I will skip the whole campaign.
We basically get the ending.
Truman orders Japan to get bombed, twice. The end.

Truman orders Japan to get bombed, twice. The end. The campaign is really worth playing through. For the first time since Call of Duty 2, I've actually cared about the outcome of what happens, even though I already knew.

I still think a Vietnam game using the COD4 engine would be cool. There's not many 'Nam games. [EDIT] I know it's off topic.

Re: COD:W@W
Ah CoD WaW.
I played the multiplayer beta, and it really is just a reskin of CoD 4.
The tank sections are just like the tank section in CoD 2, and the guns actually looked better with CoD 2 lighting model, the CoD 4 engine wasn't designed for corroded wooden weapons. Especially the MP40.
Still, I suppose this is what happens when a publisher and a developer split, and the publisher keeps the rights to the engine and name and tries to continue the franchise themselves.
It worked for Ubisoft with Far Cry 2, but Activision are using Treyarch, a company who's history includes "Ultimate Spider Man"

Re: COD:W@W
CoD3 was made by Treyarch. CoD:WaW was made by Treyarch.
CoD1,2,4, and 5 were/will be made by Infinity Ward.
The engine is their property, just the license belongs to Activision. IW lets Treyarch use their engines between their own releases. It's not great for ignorant consumers but it puts money in their pockets.

Re: COD:W@W
I got 21 levels, the Ray Gun and MG42 combo works best. Trench gun pwns in 1-10. Best stratagy=
Get 4 players. Buy Kar98k's Stay in starting room until everyone has at least 1000 points. Clear the couch leading up to the second floor. DO NOT open door to Help room. Clear the couch leading into help room, and buy random weapons. Post 2 men infront of stairs, and 2 watching the windows/tunnel. Soon, they will abandon the windows. Post 1 man on the tunnel, and the rest on the staircase. Heavy machine guns are the best weapons, and Ray Guns can be used when downed.

http://www.xfire.com/screenshots/tricti ... 96c029.jpgI found the best tactic was to have a Lmg and either a Shotgun or a Ray Gun, for when things get a lil hairy.

Maybe a WW1 FPS similiar to ghost recon, where you have more than one unit, and when you die you simply go to the next one. Oh man, a World War 1 based Call of Duty would be the sex. "Over the top lads!" *Giant Explosion* *Gibs flying into the trench*

Yeah, looks like something from some comedic alien invasion. (See: Mars Attacks)
