The game looks great, I don't know why there's so much hatred...

I liked Oblivion, but I'm the kind of player that loves to do sidequests, to the point where I got to be the Listener on 4 different characters, arch mage and fighter's guild champion on one character, and grey fox on a couple characters, all without going more than 1/4 through the main storyline on any single character. I got to the point where monsters don't scale up in type anymore. And I never saw anything past walking in the fort or whatever after rescuing Martin.

hey, I've never got past the Kvatch part of the main plot, I only really do side quests... I use mods to enhance certain features of the game, http://www.stephanewuttunee.net/tnr_tie.html is probably the best mod I use (it starts off REALLY hard, I got killed by a goblin a fair few times in the tutorial).

Over to fallout 3:
From what I've seen the combat system is... well... it's basically selecting strategic targets on some flashy hud, which results in an insta kill or fail/miss, now I'm hoping that that's just some form of special that you can only use sparingly, but it's the only combat I have seen.

edit:yeah, regular fps gameplay is still intact, and it looks awesome.

Regarding combat, most of all the public demos so far have had the stats maxxed out, so it usually results in lots of damage. It won't be nearly that easy in the actual game.

I've always liked turn-based systems and percentages and number-crunching, so I think Fallout 3 will be an improvement over Oblivion for me because the numbers now actually mean something substantial. More offense, or more action points, or more accuracy... almost looks kinda like KOTOR in its VATS combat system, and I like that general vein.

Bethseda doesn't make bad games, but they sure as heck make terrible fallout games.

I am just angry at the world right now.

You’ve been pushed around long enough! With the Nerd Rage! perk, your Strength is raised to 10 and you gain 50% to damage resistance whenever your Health drops to 20% or below.

So I just played the game for a bit.

And it is nothing like Oblivion.

For one, the people look at lot better. Nothing at all like they did in Oblivion, at least, on full settings they do.
The game is actually hard. Guns are very inaccurate at low levels.
Everyone doesn't sound the same.

Also, I should add, it earns every bit of it's "M" rating.

My evil guy is a badass. He looks like the sniper from TF2. He's got the right glasses, the hat, face, hair, and the right stuff. The first feat in the his epic saga of his life was the massacre of Megaton with naught but his trusty hunting rifle. The sole survivors were two young children, Maggie, an orphan who was adopted by the late Billy Creel, and Harden, the dead Sheriff's son. Their parents and neighbors could not survive the Vault Escapee's deadly aim and fell one after another. Men, women, elderly, infirm, it made no difference to him. The two children had only each other left in the world. Some say they may have fell in love and repopulated Megaton, that is, if Megaton's atomic bomb hadn't exploded 4 days later.

I quite like it actually. It's pretty awesome when you punch someones face to bits with spiked knuckles. Though i have to admit, the melee system (Without VATS) is a lot like that of Oblivion. With the added goodness of dismembering people, of course. Can't argue with that.

Also, exploding cars are both awesome and hella nasty. I got my whole left side crippled because i was a little too close to one of them exploding. In the middle of Minefield. I guess i was rather lucky actually. But on the plus side, it looks awesome when they blow up.

Hey. If you're not going to play the game and enjoy it, leave the thread. For one, they do actually blink. As much as any normal human. Two, don't put words in other people's mouths and try to ruin perfectly good enjoyment for everyone else.

It's a game. You play it for fun. That's all. No one is trying to force you to play it.

The ♥♥♥♥ tangent are you going on? At what point did I say I didn't enjoy the game? As I remember, I said I loved it. Quit being so goddamn ready to bite my head off. And Moira never ♥♥♥♥ blinks. She stares at you.
You misinterpreted my statement.
Therefore, I say ♥♥♥♥ you stop trying to ruin everyone's fun.
