Re: An art program. (drawing program)
Al.Chemy looks very weird, and its only good for... "modern" art, feel free to prove me wrong. (however it can be used as a base/idea creation which will then be edited in another program to produce quite nice results) Painter X is equal to photoshop, as I said between photoshop and painter is just preference. Your statement has no backing "painter is better then any other program BECAUSE we suck", therefore your statement is incorrect due to us "sucking" being incorrect in my opinion. I just downloaded Al.Chemy, I think its stupid that you have to subscribe, but seeing as how the download page says "you can redistribute it under the terms of the GNU General Public License" I think I'll just post the download page for people who don't want to subscribe. (the site doesn't show the download link anywhere, but gives you a link when you subscribe) http://al.chemy.org/download/

GIMP all the way. I use it, along with the 'shop, for all my photo doctoring and avatar making needs. Which reminds me, I should probably upload my stupor-special avatar.

Re: An art program. (drawing program)
Photoshop is my package of choice no matter what I'm designing.
Painter is nice but I prefer the tools in Photoshop.

Re: An art program. (drawing program)
Paint Shop Pro 9.
It has all the cool stuff like in photoshop, PERFECT for spriting and the most important: Its designed for humans to use. (i.e. easy to use)
I hate photoshop because its somewhat cumbersome and it doesnt feel human like PSP9. Its somewhat not fun to use and really confusing. And it seems to be slower than PSP9.

Re: An art program. (drawing program)
Attn guys he isn't looking for a SPRITING and AVATAR FILTER RAPE making program. He's looking for a program meant for drawing with a tablet, that supports it nicely.
Like OC. Photoshop too, but don't use it to draw from scratch.

To be honest, in that case the program itself is quite irrelevant, if you can draw well you could produce a good drawing from scratch in any paint program.

Guarantee that you're never going to get good if you don't draw it out on paper first.
Spoilers: Any good drawing you've seen was probably done this way.

The verdict: Photoshop wins in the second round via the knockout.

Spoilers: Any good drawing you've seen was probably done this way. Except that is not true at all. I know of many professionals who draw straight into PS.

I've realized that Daman just thinks that he/she knows everything there is to know about anything.
