Okay... let me get this straight.

You play video games for 24-hours straight, and get $1 an hour to pay for the eye-cancer you just received?

 Yup, that's it, in a nutshell.

Aren't PSATs done in-school? So how would you have them on a Saturday?

Everyone knows that the alpha emissions from monitors only exists on CRTs.

Not everyone has non-ctr monitors.... like me :( , so the statement still applies to CTR guys. I don't know if I could game for 24hrs without my eyes going really sore and giving up.

No thanks. I am eagle-eyed and want to keep it that way. Radiation or not, staring at a screen for 24 hours straight isn't good for anyone.

From what I've read on the website, they are pretty strict about getting a minimum of $96.

I'd have trouble getting that much, can't I just give them what I've managed to get?

You don't have to do it all in one day, remember your sponsors are paying you to play for 24 hrs, but You could do 12 on one day and 12 a week later, as long as you got them in. And trouserdemon, 96$ is not hard to get, if you have any family and friends. Grandparents + parents + neighbors + friends= easily 96$

Then stop being poor. Buy a decent monitor and enjoy your lack of "eye-cancer (which I take to mean as visual stress, since even alpha emission doesn't cause cancer)."

Ultimately, the 24 hours you're putting in may do more damage to you than $100 worth of cancer research will actually contribute to the whole project. Cancer research isn't exactly a budget operation, and 24 hours of playing (even if you stretch it to 28 or something while giving yourself 4 hours of breaks in there) is simply unhealthy for you in very many ways. Honestly, I'd pay someone $100 not to go on a gaming spree, were I feeling altruistic. It's a good idea to get gamers involved in charities, but such a sacrifice of personal well-being is a bit much to request in exchange for such an abysmal fraction of an electron microscope (or whatever they're using for cancer research these days).

It's no that bad. Really. I have done it before, and I get to sleep 24 hours the next day.
It's only a single DAY.
