Oh god I don't know like a year ago maybe? Community was enormously smaller. More volatile. So I was like throwing a molotov cocktail into a lake of napalm.

The community was pretty cool back then.
Also, I heard 21gp was next "on the list" to become a moderator. He still is, right?

Only person keeping a list was electro, and he disappeared. I do things differently.

I made him leave.

Also this isn't the FAQ section exactly for threads like this?

Also I was demodded by WJ and WJ reacts based on one line of IRC chat.

See above post for the latest reason for me being demodded.

Oh god I've been modded at least four times.

First time WJ removed it because of "abuse" on IRC (because kicks when someone has autojoin = abuse).

Second time ♥♥♥♥ I don't even remember.

Then I got on the mod review panel, and had a little power there, I think. Then I got a corp forum and abused that (and got an exploit fixed).

Then I got mod on Debates and got it removed out of the blue, I guess because I was in a superfluous job as MODS could moderate debates.

Then recently I became "Forum Moderator" and James removed Daman and my power because uh, I dunno, we had a fight in a hidden forum and he thought it was affecting our ability to moderate. Or something.

In other news James tends to promote you either A randomly or B if you bribe him.

Addendum: Pretending to be female works pretty well too, but you have to be convincing.

Midna only provided one picture. Not enough evidence. Both of our other females, Gwen/Seleia, have had power in the IRC or forums.

I became a moderator because I sent blackmail to Alenth.

Heck, even I was a mod in off-topic (general discussion is what you folks call it these days, I suppose) for a few months. Then I went inactive and I remain as such today.

If you badger for the position without being the friend of either an admin or a mod who happens to be in the "respectable" phase of their careers, then you aren't going to get it. They are appointed by Alenth or WJ and generally don't stay too long. I suppose the turnover rate is supposed to help with the general feng shui of the place. Generally, you need to contribute regularly (and MEANINGFULLY) and avoid pissing off anyone important, and considering the politics and alias-grubbing of these times, you can never be sure who said people are.

Basically, make friends and don't have modship as a goal. It'll work out better in the end and your tombstone might have something politically correct on it.

You mean become friends on IRC?
Or just in general?
