 Re: The Lounge
No thanks, I bought Mark of the Ninja for less, and an actual significant amount of work went into the visuals and game engine, unlike... this.

 Re: The Lounge
Eh, it's your loss, Sothe. You really shouldn't let the visuals kill the game for you, especially since they fit the theme and the gameplay so well.

 Re: The Lounge
Christ, it isn't even "retro." At no point in the trailer — nor in any of the ads for the game, including its Steam page — does it claim to be "retro." It's a game with small graphics. Who the hell even cares?

It shows aesthetic laziness and meta-social contrary behavior

 Re: The Lounge
It shows a small group of developers who don't have the time or budget to produce a game with high-definition graphics (unlike Mark of the Ninja, which was developed by a well-established studio and published by Microsoft). And I have no idea what that second part was even supposed to mean, but I'm pretty sure you're reading way too far into the game's aesthetics.

 Re: The Lounge
It takes a simple understanding of Greco-Roman word structure to understand; in laymans terms, they're dwelling on social behavior of gamers to the point of doing the opposite of what gamers generally want.
Like making poor quality games just to spite the "industry". There are indie game developers out there who don't have much time or a budget, and make actually aesthetically pleasing and well crafted games. Even in the realm of neo-bit games, there are games designed by people that don't do horribly lazy pixel jobs (GIGADEEP, Beneath A Steel Sky, Cave Story, and Off, just to name a few). So if designers of Gunpoint are put to shame held up to the designers of the aforementioned games, you could imagine how they must feel like when compared to indie low profile "3D, HD, bane of retro, and high quality" games such as Igneous, Nitronic Rush, Torus Trooper, and Warsow. And perhaps the most pivotal part of my little rant here is that all the games I named off are absolutely free. Mere scratched crust on the surface of both indie neo-bit and freeware, all of them having significant work put into the aesthetics and design, all for free as opposed to nine dollars (which is overrated for such an artistically shallow game, contradictory to the central idea of indie gaming)
