Alright. Be warned, this will make me look stupid and is very stupid.
So let me set up the backstory. I'm sort of friends with everybody in my class, which is only about 17 people. There are pretty much two groups, the theater kids and non theater kids. I'm kind of best friends with somebody in the theater group, which also happens to be the straightedge group. So they set up a second afterparty, so as to not have drugs or booze or whatnot. And I'd much rather just go to a regular party, since I don't see why you'd have to have another party entirely instead of just not doing any of that stuff. That's the party business. So, my friend set me up with one of her friends. So, friend A is dating B. C is the girl she set me up with. A cheated on B with C, after she had set us up. They've all hooked up and all like each other. At prom, my date hooked up with another girl. All of my friends are girls, but none of them are interested in me because they're either lesbian, jewish, or taken. So I'm here at the boring party with a bunch if girls who don't like me with a date who doesn't want to be with me. And all the time, people say "Why don't you have a girlfriend, you're so funny and nice". And it's all really getting to me.
Anyways, non, no school spirit shouldn't mean not going to dances or playing sports. You should go to dances and play sports because you want to. I hate my school, I still want to go to the dances. I mean, not anymore, but yknow.

Are you anti-Semitic or is there some part of the context I'm missing? Not interested in you because she's Jewish? Jewish people can be in relationships.

Yeah man if you don't independently figure out the formula for calculating the circumference of a circle or figure out how heat convection works all by yourself you're not really learning anything

I never said learning was only in schools, I said your idea that people only learn things because they want to is ridiculous. People learn a whole load of stuff because they are made to.

I absolutely hated school in general. Never could stand the damn place. But I can remember almost all of my classes pretty well. Most of them were the boring ones, too. History was pretty good, though. RE was boring as ♥♥♥♥.
This is why teachers give talks telling students that they have to apply themselves, want to learn, tell themselves it is possible The people who don't follow that are the reason that there are "less intelligent" classes, or however you want to define them, aside from of course the people who are literally mentally incapable Of course this doesn't mean there aren't students who manage to cruise along despite not caring or at least appearing not to, there are always outliers
