Post Re: The Lounge
Steam is a mixed bag really.

On a side note incoming rage rant

So today i had an appointment at a jobseekers place which is around 4pm, i set off from where i live to the bus stop (5 minute's away) so i set off 3:30 like i always do take a good 15-20 mins to get there Bus didn't turn up waited for next one which is at 3:50, still okay i be 10 or so minutes late, Didn't turn up, next one 4:16... DIDN't turn up, Next one 4:36, Turned up, But oh, once i reached Preston town centre, JAMPACKED TO THE ♥♥♥♥ FULL with traffic roadworks and ♥♥♥♥ people everywhere.. took me 20 minutes to get me from one stop to the stop i was getting off, so i walked towards the job center place. it's closed at 5pm.

To make matter worse, i was on two buses (there and back) Both times jam packed with people In a Stupidly unbritish like Hot weather. ( i don't deal with enclose spaces too good either, not sure if claustrophobic or not, But it only applies when it involves crowds, if that make sense) and a person sat next to me happen to be a Giant ♥♥♥♥ whale of a person.

Funtimes~.

Oh. and my parents stole my ice cream, and use the word stole correctly, but that more unimportant than the rest.

(Related note, Set off at 3:30, Arrived home at 6:00 Funtimes indeed)

Steam actually has a fair bit of competition, GoG being my personal favorite.
In fact, due to being DRM-free as well as typically being laden with bonuses I've started choosing GOG over steam when the option arises.

I love GoG, but it doesn't have community features on the same level as Steam. If they had their own client with cross protocol IM (meaning like Steam, Xfire, and their own) then totally. By the way, the Steam protocol actually can be used and modified for any instant messaging service, thanks to Valve. So if you have Pidgin, a customizable Android based messenger, or Miranda IM, with a little fine tuning, you can talk to your steam buddies outside of the client.
GoG doesn't seem ready for this jump, or perhaps they never wanted to make it. If they eventually do, then hell yes GoG all the way.

In a semi-related note, GoG has Farenheight, and Steam doesn't. I recently beat Farenheight too, as some of you know. This feature got me into GoG in the first place, and I intend to continue shopping there in the future.

I miss winter. It was nice and cold back then.

But anyway, Impulse used to be a pretty good digital distribution service, but GameStop grabbed the company off StarDock. It used to have a lot of good offers back in the day, but I don't know if they do them anymore, since I stopped using Impulse when Sins went out of season.

There's also GamersGate, who do a lot of offers and have this customizable offers thing. Seems pretty good, but I ain't used it enough to mention much of it.
