The only reason we aren't all dead right now is because a virus has to be extremely lucky to get inside in the first place.

More like a minidemic. 10240*2*2*2*2 163,840 *2*2*2*2 1,621,440 The point of a fudge disease is that the numbers don't remain constant. It spreads. Exponentially. The numbers I've been feeding you are based on everyone giving it to two people. Every time you cough, sneeze, blow your nose, fudge breathe, you release billions of bacteria into the environment. it only takes a few to infect someone. Walking through a crowd one could potentially infect hundreds. Imagine an outbreak somewhere like New York where everyone's packed like sardines, and constantly on the move and in contact with often poor hygiene. An infection rate far higher than two per person is far, far more likely. So please, shut the fudge up and stop encouraging people not to take the damn disease seriously. "Nah, it's all overreaction, I'll go outside and start licking everyone I see, nothing could possibly go wrong." For kicks, let's do an infection rate of 10 people. Starting at ten infected: 10*10*10*10*10 100,000 *10*10*10*10 1,000,000,000 Hi my name is pandemic and I am fudge terrifying. That's eight recursions. Eight. One billion people, infected. How many of us are on the planet? What happens when those billion people infect ten? Or, a far more likely number, 6.77? Is it a pandemic yet, Clam? I don't dispute the rapid rate of expansion, I do however dispute if its serious. it's less contagious that the flu, and only a few thousand world wide die of the flu. Swine flu is less contagious, AND less fatal. Even if 100% of the earths population catch it, we'll get F-ing better, its not like it causes hallucinations, bloody vomit and swollen brains. This isn't TB, it isn't mutant rabies, or a science fiction mutant version of AIDS that spreads by air and revives the dead (PHAIDs, See All flesh must be eatten campaign) Its the god damn flu. we are not living in the 1800's, we have anti-bacterials, neurosurgeons, chemotherapy, and bone marrow transplants. we're not going to die from the ♥♥♥♥ flu. 6.7 billion people get sore throats and some coughs, and maybe vomit. the worse that will happen is we kill off the generation gap and the 16-30 year olds inherit the earth and we get to wipe the slate clean and fix all our problems in the government. This to me is a good thing, but it won't happen because so far we have 13 deaths WORLD WIDE, okay? 13/478 world wide, thats a 2.71% fatality rate. If 2% of die its gonna be the old and children. 2% of the population in the form of old people... can you say 'the rich and powerful elite'... if I wake up next week and find out tom cruise died of swine flu... I'm not sure if i'd laugh at him or cry that it wasn't someone who's done more damage.

well, seeing as how there are now 478 people infected around the world (300 in mexico) and 13 dead (all mexican) as of 1 oclock GMT I would say that it is probably "better" than a normal flu IF you look at the two virus' in a similar time scale, you are basing your comparisons on ...hundreds? of years of facts for the normal flu versus and about a month of facts for the swine flu.

I'm not going to bother with a long and pointless reason which would just be ignored, I'm just going to say that I'm not worried.

Re: Swine Flu: Blown out of proportion or Global Pandemic?
My reason-
"Nothing I can do about it."
If it's blown out of proportion, it'll end at some point. If it's a big problem, I'll be told to stay inside my home and be given some kind of treatment so I don't die. I've got no way of changing which way it goes so I don't bother thinking about it.

Re: Swine Flu: Blown out of proportion or Global Pandemic?
Could be blown out of proportion, could be a global pandemic, could be both. Either way, it's not (and never will be) comparable to a pandemic like the Black Death (conveniently one of the deadliest pandemics ever), which humanity handily survived. Sure, many millions died, tragically, but many millions survived too. In other words, i'm not really concerned. It sucks to be struck by flu, but it's not like it's going to kill every ♥♥♥♥ human on Earth.

let's see what the CDC has to say about the symptoms of swine flu;
- sore throat - coughing - fever - lethargy (fatigue) - nausea - vomiting
i have personally never had a fatal sore throat or fatal fatigue, maybe mexicans are just terrible at existing

Vomiting dehydrates you and fevers can be fatal, particularly when combined with dehydration.

Eh simple stairs are much more dangerous than that ( http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/mor_f ... airs-steps , omg its worldwide!). From this so called swine flu so far died 20 - 40 people (don't remember exact numbers) in whole world, wow I tremble in fear. What's next? Falling coconuts terrorizing people (no joking, people die from that, its 10x more dangerous than sharks)? Come on its all overblown by media just to get attention of people, they keep talking about how dangerous it is so 'news' won't die out so quickly and they will have something to talk about.

Re: Swine Flu: Blown out of proportion or Global Pandemic?
so it's not a global pandemic, it's a result of terrible government action in countries with shitty health standards (mexico)

Re: Swine Flu: Blown out of proportion or Global Pandemic?
heat + dehydration = BAD. Mexico might have great health care for all I know, but they're evaporating* to death.
Evaporating is probably incorrect, but it seems more dramatic that way.
Wait, damnit I'm supposed to be not thinking about this.
