Re: The Lounge
Just spent today downloading then playing through spec ops the line based on some peer recommendations. Gameplay is fiddly and mediocre at best, play on easy and just skip the gunfights.
Story however. Damn. What a ride. I really wasn't expecting something like that out of this game. Self-references were kind of odd, thought they made a nice counterpoint to the seriously ♥♥♥♥ up stuff that goes on.
Environments are beautiful, setpeices are sexy. Etc etc etc. it's a copy-paste tps with a good story.

Due to my scrubbiness, up until today I'd never watched Gurren Lagann. Just finished marathon watching the whole thing. Favorite part was Episode 21 when Viral and Simon did the "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?" bit. ♥♥♥♥ hyyyype. I need sleep.

If there was a list of Required Reading for anime, Gurren Lagann would be on it.

Now imagine the story of Spec Ops and the gunplay of say, BF3.
I found the gameplay itself extremely offputting and generic, to the degreee that it made me quit playing it.

It would still have been better without a bathhouse episode

I disagree. Every episode should have naked Kamina.

Re: The Lounge
I'm considering doing a Lets Play of one of my most favored grand strategy games.
Hearts of Iron 3, playing as Nazi Germany. Why?
They have an epic set of faction music tracks.
And a nice event chain too, if we end up reenacting WW2.
Also, they are the only nation I've ever won the game as. Anyone interested in seeing the LP? I'd do 4 month gaps between updates, so 3 updates in a year.
